*Taylor's Bedroom*
~Taylor's POV~
I just woke up from my after-school nap. It was 6; Belle would be here to get me at 6:30. She told me she would call me once she was on her way. I checked my phone to see if I had any messages from her. I didn't but my phone did read 1 new message.
757-629-****: Hey
Me: Who is this?
757-629-****:
I'll only tell you if you agree to go on a date with me, Friday night.
I don't think so. What if this person is some kind of perv?
Me:
No way. What if you're some kind of serial killer, or rapist, or a weirdo!
757-629-****:
But I'm not. We go to school together. Just say yes. You won't be disappointed.
Me:
No.
I ended that conversation before it could take a wicked turn. I went downstairs to grab a quick snack and say hi to my family. My sister was on the couch reading her favorite book for the hundredth time. My mom was in her room, making her bed. Typical. She is a neat freak, she gets pride out of a tidy home. I waved at Carly then walked into my mom's room to talk to her about my plans with Belle. She said it was okay, since I was new to town, she said she's 'So, glad I'm finally learning how to make friends.' I skipped to the kitchen to get an apple. Fruit has become my go to dinners. I'm sitting at the table eating my apple when I hear my phone ringing form upstairs. I run up there, skipping every other step, my screen read:
BELLE
I answered as quickly as I could. I answered and she shouted into the phone. "I'M HERE!" I haven't heard her yell before. To be fair, I've only known her for two days, so it really wasn't a lot of time for someone to shout I suppose. I hopped three stairs and another until I was all the way down. I ran through the house shouting, "Bye mom! Call me if you need me!" I grabbed a light jacket from the coat rack that stood next to the front door. The front door slamming behind me. There she was. Sitting in the driver's seat of her old, rusted, blue, pick-up truck. She loved that thing. She named him 'Toby.' She got it for her sixteenth birthday. Honestly, it isn't bad. It runs like a charm and is perfect for the country.
Somewhere along the way, we decided to bail on the football game. We both decided we'd have more fun going to local hangouts. She was excited to show me around.
We drove around all night. We didn't get to her house until 11 at night. I texted my mom letting her know I was at Belle's and would be home soon. She showed me how to get to the grocery store, the mall, and all the hangouts, like the skating rink, and the park, and the running trails and even an old bowling alley. We even crashed a seven-year old's birthday party on accident. She showed me, the stadium, and the best places to eat, and last but not least. We even went into her house so she could show me where she lived. I got to meet her parents. She lives in one of those huge farmhouses from like the 1800's. He parents own around three hundred acres of their own land, then another two hundred for bailing hay. She took me straight home after that and she ended up staying for a while. We watched some tacky television series. It wasn't until 1am when she got the call that would change her life's course forever. She walked out onto my bedroom's balcony. After a while she came in, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Belle? Are you okay?" I stood up and rushed to her side. Patting her back, she shakes her head 'No' Then more tears flood down.
"M-My Dad is in p-prison, F-f-for rape, a-and murder," She stuttered out. I had just met her father hours earlier, and he didn't seem like that kind of guy. He seemed happily married to her mom. Then again, maybe it was just the wrong place at the wrong time.
