~Taylor's POV~
I slept through the night only to be woken up by sunshine burning in my eyes. It was warm but at this time of day, I wouldn't exactly call it inviting. I stretched out all the sleepiness in my body. Today was a new day, and I was eager to conquer it. I jumped up and took a nice cool morning shower. I scrubbed my hair, all of my skin and made sure to wash my face. I stepped out and toweled off. I slipped on my dress for the day. I was about knee length and white with floral lace and long sleeves. I walked up to the counter and braided my hair to the side to get it out of my face. I tossed on a plastic head band to help hold my hair back so I could brush my teeth without making a mess. I scrubbed my teeth clean and looked myself over in the mirror. This head band was really cute with this hairstyle. I nodded in approval. I added some accessories to tie the outfit together and stuck on some white flats to compliment the outfit. I snagged up my shoulder bag, checked the time on my watch, and bounded down the steps. As I was walking down Carly's head peeped through her door frame. "Hey sissy, can you help me?" I looked down at her and saw the somber expression she bore. "Of course, what's up?" I walked into her room an sat on the bed. Checking my watch again I only had 5 minutes before I needed to be out the door and I still needed to grab breakfast.
"Can you zip up my dress?" She asked turning her back to me. She was wearing a similar dress to mine, except hers was shaped more like a tutu at the bottom and was a dark shade of green. It looked good on her. I waved her over and grabbed the tiny little zipper. I pulled it all the way up and rubbed my hands up and down her arms in a reassuring motion. I was glad I could help her. It was nice to feel needed, she needed us less and less as she gets older. I remember the day my mom brought her home.
She was so tiny, and her face was slightly bruised. Her skin light pink and rather irritated. She hadn't stopped crying the first 45 minutes out of the womb. But my mom held her anyways. She held a vast amount of love and adoration in her eyes whenever she looked at the newborn. "Tay, you want to hold her?" My mom held her out for me to gather her. I was shaking, I don't think I had ever been this nervous before. I nodded eagerly. I walked up to my mom and placed my hands where hers had been. "Remember to support the head." I sat down holding the baby close to me. My mom's head tilted to the side; she was exhausted. My older brother Colton had been there too. He stood in the corner leaning against the wall. He didn't seem amused without new sibling. He honestly seemed more interested in me and making sure I didn't drop her.
I snagged a fruit out of the fruit bowl, waved goodbye to my mom and ran out the front door to my vehicle. I checked all of my mirrors and made my way to the school.
Once I parked in the high schools parking lot, everyone turned to stare. I swear you would think this would have been over yesterday. Although yesterday there weren't as many people staring. What is their problem? I secured the strap on my shoulder and made my way to the main entrance. I looked around me and heads kept turning. I was getting uncomfortable from all the attention. I pulled open the entrance door and busted an immediate left to get to my locker. Once I was there, I tried to put in the locker combination. It did not work. Maybe I just twisted it the wrong way. I tried it again, and it still didn't work. I pulled out the paperwork I had received from the office to check on my code. It was right but it wouldn't work for some reason. This is just my luck. I slammed my forehead into the locker in defeat. I'd never learn how to use these things.
"You're on my locker. Move." A stern voice grunted out. Great, exactly what I needed, to piss someone else off on my second day. I turned my head to look. Kyle. I lifted my head off his locker and gave him a dejected smile. "Sorry." I was tired. Maybe my night's rest hadn't been as fulfilling as I originally thought. "Oh. Taylor." I moved out of his way. "Hey." I waved. He walked up to his locker and put his code in, and it opened without a problem. Okay, so guess was probably why my combo didn't work. I threw my head back and grunted. "What's your problem?" He began stuffing his belongings into the mid-sized space. "I thought that was my locker." "Let me see." He snatched the paper from my hand. "It was 421, this is 431. Your locker is there." He turned and pointed at the wall of lockers behind us. I felt dumb. I wonder where Belle's locker was. He chuckled at me, and I went over to locate my actual locker. When I found the correct one, I tried to twist in the same combination from earlier. Pop. It was open. Finally. I took out my books for the next few classes until I had lunch.
The day was okay. It didn't go fast, but it didn't go slow. The lunch bell rang. Belle and I took off and out towards the cafeteria. The closer we got the louder it got as well. The loudness didn't disrupt Belle and I's conversation. We stopped at my locker so I could put some books away. "So, I hear there's going to be a back-to-school rondevu this weekend. Are you going?" She asked. "Nah, I've still got quite a bit of unpacking to do, and I've got to watch my little sister on Saturday." I shut my locker. We turned off towards the cafeteria, the noise still steady. "Okay, well then are you busy tonight? We could go to the football game and then grab some food." Going to the game actually sounded like a great idea, I'd get to see and experience the school in a different way. "Yeah, actually that sounds great." "Okay awesome, game starts at 7, I'll pick you up at 6:30 and we can head to the game?" I nodded in response. We approached the cafeteria and notices where the nose was coming from. Students were huddled around each other, the sound of punches echoing through the hallway. A series of OOHS and AHS sounded out around them Belle and I shoved our way to the front.
I saw Kyle on top of the football player from yesterday. Kyle was straddling him. Left hook, right hook. It was consistent, Kyle never let up. The football player's face was mush, blood dripping out of every orifice. Kyle did not seem to care. His eyes solid black, filled with rage. The principal came up and grabbed Kyle's fist before he landed another blow. "Mr. Daniels, my office. NOW!" He shouted. "And you, Mr. Powers. Go to the nurse's office to get checked out so we can make your you don't have to go to the hospital" Kyle stood and wiped a few drops of blood from his lip. Guess the football player got a few hits in. When Kyle stood, he looked directly at me. His eyes widened slightly, and he scoffed. My mouth slightly agape at the events that just played out. I was grateful the day was halfway over. Once the final bell rung, I booked it out to my jeep and drove myself home. Excited for my typical after school nap. It was definitely my favorite time of the day.
