Lunch didn't have the relaxing atmosphere that it usually did. Even Sairento was out of it. The four grabbed their favorite dishes and sat down.
"What are our plans? Any ideas, Shio?" Sairento asked.
"Well, let's review our roles. I'm the main slayer, Sairento's a mix of an anchor and a midliner, Callie's a skirmisher, and Marie's our backliner.
"And I'm sure we all know," Marie added, "that midliners support frontliners, and backliners support midliners."
"Yeah, we know the basics. The real problem is variability. We're not experienced enough to know what to expect from every weapon and every style," Sairento said.
"Then we'll use a plan that can be used against every team," Shio replied. The others all shared confused expressions.
"A plan that can be used against most teams," Shio amended. "Feel free to add your own thoughts and ideas."
"Alright, spit it out," Callie said impatiently.
"First, Callie will rush to the center of the arena, while I follow behind," Shio stated.
"What? I have less range than you!" Callie exclaimed.
"Exactly. You will provoke the enemies and initiate a fight. Then, I'll win it. That'll be our bread and butter strategy."
"I can fight too, you know."
"Yes, but if you die, our combat capabilities will diminish. Please, for your own sake and for our sakes, chuck bombs at them."
"Fine," Callie resigned.
Next was Sairento's part.
"Sairento is technically a midliner. He needs to support the frontliners by giving them more space and restricting the enemy's space," Marie said.
"My range and turfing capabilities will be exceptional in this front," Sairento said confidently.
"And you'd better use your sub weapon to help out Shio and Callie," Marie continued.
"Of course. Splash Wall is the best in the world."
"Marie's role is to challenge other backliners and pick off stray enemies," Shio stated.
"Mhm. I've got my priorities straight now," Marie said solemnly.
"If the enemy backliner is splatted, Marie should move up near Sairento," Shio suggested.
"Yeah."
"Alright then. We're set to win our next match!" Shio said excitedly.
"Quick question, Shio. What happens if one of us dies?" Sairento questioned. Shio paused. Panic set in, as he realized that his entire plan hinged on all of them being alive.
"Uhm... don't die, I guess?"
The four were silent after that. Fortunately, though, Marie spoke up.
"I have an idea. At the start, I'll try and get a pick on some poor frontliner. If not, Sairento will have to constantly use splash walls to keep the frontline duo safe."
"Sairento can't keep throwing splash walls, though. He has to also paint the battlefield for us," Shio argued.
"That's where my ingenious drip comes in," Sairento said. "I actually have some prototype gear that regenerates your ink faster. Buying some guides really helped."
"Awesome! Although, could you give me and Shio some splash walls before the match? It could give us a head start," Callie suggested.
"I will, but the Tournament only allows alternate sub weapons to be used up to five times, so make sure to use them wisely. Any rules broken means immediate disqualification," Sairento responded.
