The Grindelwalds 1

Part 14

Today is Christmas day. Benji woke up first and went downstairs. His mum was already downstairs in the living room drinking coffee.

"Hi mum." He said while walking in.

He looked at the Christmas tree in the corner of the living room with all the presents under it.

"Wow."

"I know, it looks like Santa has been busy."

Benji kneeled down next to his pile of presents. "Can I open mine now?"

"No, go and wake up your sisters first, then you can open them together."

Benji stood up and ran up the stairs. Sarah left the living room and knocked on Oris and Mildred's bedroom door.

"Hey, Mildred and Oris, wake up." She said.

Mildred opened the door looking sad.

"What's wrong?"

Mildred opened the door wider and allowed Sarah to walk in, Sarah very rarely had been inside of Oris and Mildred's room, it was small and messy.  Mildred's bed was tidy but Oris was still in his bed.

"What is it, Mildred?" Sarah asked.

"It's Oris."

"Mum, can we open our presents now?" Said Benji.

"Yeah sure but, take turns."

Sarah knelt down next to Oris's bed. She placed her hand on his forehead and he felt  cold. 

"What do you think is wrong?" Mildred asked.

"I'm not sure, how old is he?"

"I don't know, older than me I expect. Master Grindelwald brought him home to the old castle once and since then he lived with us as Master's assistant."

"He seems unwell, I suggest for now that you keep him as warm as possible."

"I will, Sarah."

"Good, for now, you should make him a warm drink and make him a hot water bottle."

"I will."

"Good. I bought you some presents for you both, I'll leave them outside the door for you."

"Thank you."

Sarah stood up and left the little bedroom and went back into the living room. 

The children were taking turns opening their presents. So far, Luzia had gotten some water paints so she can learn to pain. Penelope had got a new set of hair straighteners and Benji had got a new Real Madrid football kit as they were his favourite team.

"How much do you like your new presents?" Sarah asked.

"Lots." Said Penelope.

"I just got some new guitar picks." Said Luzia. "Oh and a new guitar strap."

"I just got some news earrings." Said Penelope.

"And I got a basketball, but I don't have a hoop."

"It's already in the garden." Sarah told him.

Benji stood up and went into the back garden, there was a basketball hoop there.

"Yay!" Benji shouted.

After almost an hour of present opening, all the presents were unwrapped.

Each child took  their different things to their bedroom and came back down for breakfast, but little did they know, Sarah had another surprise for them.
