Lydia ran her fingers through her hair, going over the question once again. Her mind couldn't focus on the simple equation even if she tried. She heard the 'tick tick tick' of the clock mounted on the wall, signaling her that time wasn't going to stand still for her to finish the test. She glanced at her friend Allison. She looked as if she was struggling as well, and she was. The words on the page seemed to float around and twist and turn and she couldn't stop tapping her foot hard against the floor. Her hair was braided on top of her head but she kept pushing the nonexistent brunette strands behind her ears.

Lydia was also tapping her pencil against her desk quietly. She kept making different beats up in her head, which was straying from the test at a rapid speed. Finally, the bell rang loudly. There was a rustling of the freshman class packing up their things, stuffing their folders full of unimportant papers.

Lydia stood up, almost warily and she started to walk to the front of the classroom. "Uh, Mr. Finstock?"

The teacher looked up from his sudoku at the straight-a student with ease and smiled. "Yes Lydia," came a soft voice.

"Well, uh, I don't know why, but I couldn't focus the entire class period and I didn't get anything done on my test so, could I, you know come in after-" she was interrupted by a loud screeching noise, followed by a huge crash. Lydia and Allison were the only remaining students in the classroom as, Lydia is Allison's ride home, and Allison also had trouble with the test.

The noise came from the window over looking the field at the back of Mr. Finstock's classroom. Lydia looked over with wide eyes to see a humongous monster. It couldn't be described any other way with its long tail and scaly skin. It resembled a giant snake or bird but much more hellish. Black singed hair was found in multiple shags around its body and otherwise it was just black leathery skin. Instead of arms, it had two large wings, and it was beginning to look more like... A dragon.

"Maeonian drakon..." Lydia heard Mr. Finstock mutter as he reached under his desk. When his arm came back up, carrying a large golden sword, he stood from the desk and jumped in front of Lydia and Allison. That's when the reality of the situation set in for Allison and she began to scream.

"Hush child! No one else can see it but us." The old ragged teacher said calmly.

"What the hell is that thing?!" Allison shouted back.

"A maeonian drakon. From Greek mythology. You know, my class." Mr Finstock shouted before turning back towards the danger that had somehow got itself into the classroom.

"Well why the hell is a mythical creature in your classroom?!" Lydia screamed, panicked at the sight.

He didn't listen to Lydia as he began jogging towards the drakon. He strayed to duck away from the fire that the creature spat and sliced at its back. "Lydia, do you remember a dragon's only weak spot. We had this lesson two weeks ago."

"Why are you going over the curriculum when a fire breathing dragon is in your fucking classroom, trying to kill you?!" Alison shouted, terrified of the monster that was trying so hard to get past the teacher towards her and Lydia.

"Allison, it's not trying to kill me, it's trying to get to you and Lydia." He said calmly and turned back to the creature. With a slash from the sword, the monster just randomly dissipated into a giant cloud of smoke.

"Okay, what the hell..." Lydia started pacing running her hands through her hair, almost pulling it out in strawberry blonde tufts. She tried to analyze the situation, failing as it was truly impossible. Then, she remembered something of when she was a child.

One night, after her father had calmly tucked her into the duvet, she had just been about to fall into the grasp of sleep when she glanced outside her window. No one believed her, even as she wouldn't give up. No one believed that she could've seen such a thing, something impossible but she did see her father's stance waver before he put up those walls.

Lydia's father was the only person she felt a close relationship to, except Allison, as her mother was never in the picture. Her dad never talked about her, but whenever Lydia asked, he clammed up with a sad look in his eyes. That's the look he got when she told him of the strange figure in her window. Lydia always knew he missed her, and Lydia might have as well, but no one needed to know that.

So when her father didn't believe that she had seen an angel outside her window, Lydia stopped confiding in him.

That was seven years ago. She still doesn't open up as much as she used to, but he doesn't notice.

"When you said only we could see it... What do you mean, like how are we any different than anyone..." Lydia pieced it together slowly. No one believed her. And now she found someone who would.

"Lydia, you aren't quite human.. Well you are kind of half human... Allison- you as well." Mr. Finstock's words came out shockingly calm, almost knocking Allison and Lydia off of their feet. "You have God blood running through your veins."
