The sun was rising at a magnificently slow pace. It's bright edges were taking an almost impossibly long course ascending into the sky, so much so that the stars were still visible, along with several clouds.

Stiles was staring up at the view, only 4:45 am, wondering about almost everything. His thoughts went to places in his mind that he couldn't quite comprehend, thinking of the complex reality of his situation. He never actually knew his mother, only his father, or who claimed to be his father. He was told that his mother died during childbirth and that his dad would just be a single dad.

Well the last part was a lie, as Stiles' father dated quite a few women, only briefly anyways, until when stiles was 11 and his father fell in love with Melissa, Scott's mother.

That's when the two became brothers and then in eighth grade they met Kira, leading into their three year long friendship. Or Scott and Kira's relationship and Stiles being the tagalong.

Then, about two weeks ago, the three were discovered, almost dying if not for a few demigods being on a quest that found and defended them, learning soon after that they were also demigods.

Stiles thoughts returned to something he's been completely thrown by for the past few days. Lydia Martin. The beautiful girl who captivated him, without even realizing it. The girl who had the most alluring hazel eyes. Oh and her hair, it shone with bright red fluorescence as if it could burn you.

His toes dug into the soft damp sand as he walked down to the beach. He never expected his summer to end up like this. Waking up almost every night to searing images and scenes in his mind, to find no one in his cabin but himself. Sometimes he had panic attacks. After the first two weeks he mostly got used to the nightmares, but they were always a reminder of what his life has become.

His body ached as he sat down in the sand, pushing his heels into the tiny grains that expanded and surrounded everything they touched. He ran a hand through his knotted hair, almost aggressively as he though of the lies he'd been told his entire life. 'You're normal, Stiles.' 'I'll always be your dad!'

Soon the thoughts encapsulated his every thought until he just lied back into the sand, attempting to forget everything. To forget his dad. To forget his stupid blood. To forget the gods. To forget the stupid damned camp. The only thing he didn't want to forget... Was the fiery, clever leader of the Athena cabin.

"Oh... Sorry," he sat up, shocked at the presence of someone at five in the morning.

He turned to see a girl in grey sweatpants and a white fitted tank top.

"Lydia?" He asked. The girl stopped and turned slowly revealing her face.

"Uh, yeah. Sorry I didn't know anyone was awake. I usually come here when I have nightmares, which is frequent." She paused, "I can leave..." She looked to him.

"Oh, no no it's totally fine. You can sit here.. I'll leave, it's your spot, you've been here longer." He stood up smiling.

"You.. You can stay. I mean, if you want to.." Lydia flared pink as the sun was still, painstakingly, taking its sweet time to arise.

"Oh.. If you're sure." Stiles sat down once again on the sandy beach and Lydia awkwardly sat next to him.

"So you couldn't sleep either?" Stiles looked to the girl next to him with sympathy. He hadn't had a good nights sleep since he'd gotten to the camp.

"Haven't slept in the past two years actually." She laughed grimly.

"No kidding." Stiles chuckled,"guess it comes with being half God..." He tousled his hair and looked over the water that was bordering the sun. It was about a quarter up at the moment, now rising at a quicker pace. Soon enough it would be time for breakfast and training, ugh brutal training.

Stiles changed the topic to something he'd thought of for the past three days, since their encounter outside the bathrooms. "So I'm guessing your friend Allison likes Scott?" Lydia looked up worried.

"No, no he's got a girlfriend and-and she doesn't mean it... She just has to fall for the guy with a girlfriend, that's so wrong. On so many levels."

"Okay calm down, fire." Lydia blushed at the new nickname. Everyone always noticed her strawberry blonde hair right when they met her. It was a part of who she was. Lydia smiled and paced herself.

"Sorry.. I usually talk a lot but I- I'm not usually so lost for words, I guess that's what I'm trying to say." She pushed her hair behind her ears.

"No it's fine. Scott has always been one to attract all the females. Don't tell anyone, but his relationship with Kira is dwindling... They really would be better off as friends. I don't think they realize this, but they always look... I don't know.. Uncomfortable? But they love each other... And I don't know why they can't love each other as friends. Like I love both of them."

Lydia was awed that stiles opened up to her. They barely knew each other for a week. Her heart swelled.

Now, the sun was about 4/5's of the way up, leaving Lydia and Stiles only a few minutes before someone would notice them missing.

"Wow... Well I hope they work that out... Anyways, how are you transitioning into camp." Lydia changed the subject once again.

Stiles smirked and looked over at her. "Well, I have severe muscle pain, have gotten almost stabbed four times and my wrist is sprained." Lydia laughed.

"Oh my gosh I remember my first week! It was horrible and I broke my finger. But now, I'm almost the best fighter at this camp, so the training paid off." Lydia encouraged him.

Stiles smiled and looked at the horizon, now with the full sun over the edge of the water. "Thanks Lydia, but I don't think I'll strive that far... Also, I think it's time to go back to our cabins... You know, before someone files a missing person report." Lydia chuckled but frowned, not wanting to leave. "Thanks for, uhm, talking to me. It was nice." Stiles blushed and began to stand up, shaking sand from his sweats and muscle tee.

"No problem Stiles. Anytime." She stood and waved before jogging back towards the cabins.

Stiles watched her hair fly behind her and just stood there until he finally walked back to his cabin, closest to the beach, and started to get ready.
