Amber walked towards Elizabeth's room. She also hadn't waited very long to see the new people. She followed Adeline and Colette, quietly slipping out of the meeting room and walking in the opposite direction of them. Amber was going to see Elizabeth about this whole war plan, if there even was one. She rounded a corner and bumped into someone. She actually fell back and if they hadn't reached out their hand to grab her, she would have hit the floor.

"Sorry," he said, letting go of her arm as she stood up straight.

"It's okay, it's my fault. I wasn't watching where I was going," Amber searched his features closely this time.

Connor gave a wary smile. She returned one.

"Welcome, I guess."

"Thanks," he breathed. It felt as though he had been holding that breath in the whole time.

"Nice seeing you again but I better..." Amber trailed off slowly and pointed in the direction she was headed.

"Oh right yes," Amber was a little shocked at his sudden enthusiasm. They stood awkwardly for a second longer and then continued walking past each other, brushing shoulders.
Amber felt a small chill when their shoulders touched, she stopped and looked back but Connor kept walking. She suddenly lost her train of thought and decided to walk outside into the gardens instead. They were built by Elizabeth and some friends, a safe way for everyone who stayed their to get fresh air instead of going out into the snow, or out into the waiting hands of humans. It was like spring in the gardens. Amber walked steadily along a path but stopped suddenly when she smelt smoke.
The smell put her on edge, when there was smoke there was usually danger, and it was usually because of her. But this smell was different, it was... Cigarette. Amber finally figured it out, she turned slowly, questioningly. And there he was. A tall lean boy with dark blonde hair, he had his head bowed and was smoking a cigarette, a perfect bad boy image.

"Isn't that a fire hazard?" Amber asked calmly more than cocky.

"Aren't you a fire hazard?" The boy smiled slyly as he looked down at Amber. At first she thought it was some cheesy pick up line that insinuated that she was hot. Then she realised, she sort of was a fire hazard.
When Amber didn't respond the boy blew soft smoke her way. She waved it out of her face with a hand motion and pretended to cough, when in actual fact smoke had no impact on her. Perk number two of her powers.
He smirked again and Amber shook her head slightly before turning on her heel and walking back down the path.

"Weren't you heading the other way?" His smooth voice came from behind. Amber turned back around and slowly walked past him. This time she looked him in the eye. His eyes were green, and they glistened with something Amber hadn't seen before. It certainly wasn't the carefree behaviour he was displaying.

"Thanks," Amber said as she walked past him.

"No problem," he smirked.

"What was your name sorry?" Amber said as she stopped in her tracks. For a moment she was surprised at her forward ness.

"Noah. And yours?" Amber wasn't facing Noah but she could hear the smile in his voice.

"If you already knew I was a fire hazard then you already know my name," Amber walked away and Noah watched her with a small smile.

Amber had walked back into the building and stopped to lean against a wall when she knew she was out of site. The wall was cold and it made her realise that she had been burning up. Ironic. Noah, she tossed the name around in her head for a while before shaking herself back into reality. She let out an exasperated breath and tried to gather her thoughts. Where had she been heading?
