Amber gawked at the site in front of her. From the window she saw a massive room. The rooms walls were a texture she had never seen before, and along one of the walls it was loaded with weapons. Amber could see crevices in the walls that looked like they hid something, maybe something that could throw balls of fire or swords. Her mind was racing. What was this place?
She looked down and before her there was something that wasn't there before, a control panel with buttons and flashing lights."This is where you can train," Avery smiled down at the training room, "the walls, like all the walls in this place, are made to withstand any element or power. Pretty great," she smiled to herself this time.
"Can I check it out?" Amber asked shyly.
Avery replied with a huge smile across her face.Amber stood in the middle of the training room.
"We will have to get Elizabeth," and like that Avery was gone.
Amber stood still for a while but lost her patience and begun to walk around. She trailed her fingers along the wall, setting something off. Suddenly a ball that looked like an extremely strong dodge ball shot from the wall. Amber hit the floor in shock and dodged it just in time. She stood up and breathed heavily, she turned her head from side to side frantically searching for any other threat. Pieces of sharp wood, in the shape of spears began to propel from the walls in different directions. Amber dodged each one with a jump, roll or sidestep. She heard one whip past her ear and shot her hand out in reaction. She stared down at it, shocked. She dropped the spear on the floor before she even realised she had caught it. Her reflexes had never been tested like this before, and they were good.
There was a deep pushing sound and balls of fire actually started coming from the walls. Amber couldn't believe it, she almost laughed. She stood in the middle for a while and then slowly rised her gaze up toward the window she was looking out of before. She could make out three figures, probably Avery, Elizabeth and who else? Oh, Henley.
Amber realised they were testing her skills. She hadn't really panicked since she couldn't get burnt, it was definitely a perk of possessing her powers. But if they really wanted to see what she could do, then why deny them? Amber hadn't been able to release her magic in a safe place, and she was looking forward to it as she readied herself.
One of the fire balls flew past her face and she reached out her arms toward it, not touching it but manipulating it. She expanded it until it was a large ball of fire, and begun to shape it. She made swirls that began to get more intricate, they turned into dragons and she sent them flying around the room and slowly she manipulated every piece of fire in there to surround her like a tornado. With one wave of her hand the fire spread out to ever corner of the room and extinguished. She looked up towards the window and saw Avery and Elizabeth clapping, and Henley held a glare. Henley reached down and pressed a button.
Suddenly things like the spears and dodge balls and other weapons begun to fly at Amber. She conjured her own fire and redirected the objects. The wooden spears that headed toward her turned to ash as she held up a temporary fire wall. Amber used her fire to send the dodge balls in opposite directions and all at once everything stopped. Amber extinguished her fire slowly and looked around, waiting for the next test.Dummies. They began to pop up from everywhere. Wooden cut outs in the shape of people, even some made of materials. Amber looked at them. She looked to the window but the faces of her 'judges' remained expressionless. It didn't seem right, sure it was fine to practise on dummies, but for what? To kill real people? Amber wasn't ready. She walked to the door and a clicking noise sounded as it unlocked and she walked out.
Avery, Elizabeth, and Henley stood expectingly in the watching room with the round table. Amber made her way there and swung open the door.
"That was pretty amazing," Amber stated humbly.
"You were amazing!" Avery clapped her hands and excitement bubbled in her voice.
Amber laughed lightly, "thanks."
"I never thought you would be that good so soon. You truly are the one we need," Elizabeth gave an accepting look.
"Why didn't you fight the dummies?" Henley asked. Everyone stood around awkwardly.
"She wasn't ready," Avery replied with a strong voice. Amber was almost surprised, almost.
"Well she'll have to be ready, because when we go into battle-" Henley was cut off.
"About that, I don't know anything about this battle?" Amber asked.
"Yes well, I've seen it. People, like actual humans, want us. Well actually they want to cut us open and try to harness out powers I think. We've actually tried reasoning with them. But if we don't win this battle then we'll be killed, all of us, even the ones that have not been found yet," Avery stated sadly.
"We need you to fight, Amber. We also need to find others," Elizabeth added. Amber looked at them. She saw the sadness in there eyes and couldn't believe what had happened to her in less then a day. How she'd been pulled into this crazy whirlwind of life or death. And she couldn't believe how much she wanted to help.
"Let's go find them."
