"Training is going well. Soon everyone will be comfortable in their powers," Elizabeth said with a smile.

"That's not my question," Amber said politely, "I want to know what the plan is? We've all been training for weeks now and no one really knows why."

"People are getting closer. They will soon discover our hideout and attack us, and we will be ready when they do."

"Attack us? So we're going to sit and wait!" Dusk yelled across the table. The three sat in the meeting room whilst everyone else trained. There weren't that many, maybe twenty now. Certainly not enough to fight a war.

"Yes. Then it will be on our terms and we will be prepared," Elizabeth gave her a stern look. It had been at least a month or two since Amber had been there. Things were going well, she was good at fighting with her powers and all the knew people came I. Looked up to her. She, along with Avery, Dusk, Ingrid, Adeline and Colette were the originals. Henley and Elizabeth started the whole school thing so they didn't count. But people looked up to the original group. They knew what was going to happen, and they were supposed to be prepared.

"Well I don't feel prepared," Dusk slammed her hand on the table, "I feel like we could be training for years and forever be on edge, waiting for an attack-" she was cut off mid sentence.

"Your always on edge," Amber said jokingly but with warning in her voice. Amber and Dusk had become close, they were opposites. One calm and one crazy, they balanced each other out.

"Well I am now. You heard what Colette said. She's a ticking time bomb," Dusk continued.

"You don't know that. We don't know what she means by 'evil inside her'," Amber reassured.

"It means she going to possessed by a demon and kill us all!" Dusk waved her hands in the air.

"Keep your voice down!" Elizabeth yelled in a whisper, "I don't want anyone else panicking." She rubbed her temples to calm her nerves.

"They should be panicking. We all should. People want to kill us and at any moment Colette could be trying to kill us too," Dusk continued to be dramatic, but kept her voice to a whisper.

"It was just a prophecy Dusk," Amber found the whole prophecy thing baffling, it made her feel like she was living in ancient times with witches and wizards.

"Yeah whatever," Dusk shrugged, unconvinced.

"Just get back to training. These people are depending on you," and with that Elizabeth gestured to the door, which swung open with a gust of wind.
Dusk stood up and made her way out of the room with crossed arms, she slammed the door behind her. Amber gave Elizabeth a concerned look before leaving the room and chasing after Dusk.

"Dusk wait!" Amber panted and she ran after her. Dusk wasn't running but she was a fast walker and had had a head start.

"What?" She said stopping suddenly and turning around. Amber was caught of guard and walked into her.

"Sorry," she said as she rooted herself to the ground in front of Dusk, "I agree, nobody's really telling us anything, but those people do need us. Who knows what will happen to us if we aren't ready to fight."

"It's just stupid okay? Let's drop it," Dusk turned back around and walked into the training room. Amber was unable to move for a moment, Dusk never usually shied away from conflict. Amber shook herself from her thoughts and followed Dusk into the training room.

She looked around the room. Everyone was getting so good with their powers. But what for? Amber couldn't help but wonder why everything Elizabeth told them was so vague. Was it because she was hiding something? Or worse, maybe Elizabeth didn't know herself what they were up against. Suddenly something caught Ambers eye, a boy.
Amber hadn't been able to shake Noah from her mind since they met, and to make matters worse she hadn't seen him since. But here he was, at the very back of the training room, talking to some girl. Amber couldn't see her face because her back was turned, but she had unmistakable pastel blue hair. It was tied into a pony tail and had bouncy waves at the end. Amber had never seen her before, she must have been new. Before Amber could get a closer look the girl disappeared into the chaos of people practicing their powers.
Amber soon found herself strolling towards the now alone Noah. She didn't know why or what she would say to him but she hadn't seen him in weeks, which was bizarre right?

"Hey hot stuff," Noah joked as he saw her approaching.

"How do you know who I am?" Amber asked with crossed arms as she stood in front of him. She could hear the noises of people throwing weapons and dodging attacks behind her and she had to raise her voice a little, Noah on the other hand did no such thing. Amber leaned in to here his reply, and he smiled at there closeness.

"News travels around here."

"Yes but I've hardly even seen you 'around here'," Amber gestured with quotation marks.

"That's because I don't live here."

"But everyone who has powers lives here," Amber stated with caution. She really needed to get to the bottom of this, even if it was just an excuse to talk to him.

"Yes, but I'm not every one," he smirked and walked away from Amber. Her eyes followed him and for a second he turned to look back. Her eyes darted to the ground and she felt embarrassed that he caught her staring.

"Who was that?" Ingrids shy voice came from behind. Amber turned around with a smile.

"Noah."

"Oh so you've finally met Noah," Avery stood next to Ingrid with a wide grin on her face, like there was something she knew that no one else did.

"Well actually we've met before, why?" Amber gave Avery a quizzing look and tried to read her expressions. Avery only stood still with a knowing grin.

"Oh nothing. He doesn't have powers you know? He's a friend of Adeline's," Avery informed.

"Figures. She's so pretty," Ingrid sighed at the thought, "I'll never meet a cute boy."

Amber hid a giggle, Ingrid was Ambers age but somehow so cute.

"You think something's going on between them?" Amber asked.

"Well why not?" Ingrid sighed again.

Yes, why not? Amber thought to herself. She shouldn't care, she hardly knew him. But for some reason she felt something when he was near.

"Are you okay?" Avery asked, still unable to contain a grin.

"What do you mean, he doesn't have powers?" Amber asked, avoiding the question.

"He doesn't have powers. I don't know why he's here, maybe you should ask him yourself," Avery's grin beamed.

"Would you wipe that smile off your face, your creeping me out," Dusk said from behind Amber. She had just arrived at the group and was already trying to start up an argument. Amber slid away slowly when Avery retaliated with a comment. She felt bad for leaving Ingrid in the middle of it, but she didn't want to answer that question. Was she okay? If she wasn't Avery would soon be able to tell.
