Amber retired to her room, just like everyone else. She had a lot to think about. She opened the door of her bedroom and stared at the plain walls. Adeline had kindly offered to help her pack things from her house, but there was really nothing she wanted. Amber sat on the edge of her bed. She slowly swung her legs up and let the pillow mold around her head. She was so tired, but she couldn't sleep. Was this all real? What if she woke up tomorrow and it was all a dream? She thought about it again and again. She had met seven others who possessed abilities like hers. And there were more? All of this kept her from exploring a thought she had shoved to the back of her mind. War.
Ambers eyes shot open. She sat up straight, when had she fallen asleep? She squinted her eyes as she got out of bed, the window on the far upper side of her wall was blinding her. She walked up to it and peered out. The sun had only just come up and reflected off the layer of snow that covered everything. Amber pulled down the blind and cast her room into darkness. She switched on the light and opened her wardrobe. She didn't know what she was expecting, she had left all her clothes at home after all. But the wardrobe was full. Each draw contained a different size of clothing, Amber opened the top draw with the number six on it. Being so small it was hard finding nice clothes that fit her, but this draw had plenty. Luckily it was all winter clothes, considering how cold it was here. Adeline had said it snowed where she was going today, right? Amber pulled out the first matching thing she could find and threw it on.
She walked out of her room in thick black leggings and a white coat with an overly sized classy hood. She felt as though she was going to the opera. She had a sneaking suspicion that Adeline had chosen the clothes that inhibited her wardrobe. She left the hood down and scooped out her hair from underneath as she walked towards the meeting room. Like the sun on the snow, her orange hair glistened off the white coat."Amber," Avery squealed excitedly as Amber made her way into the room, "okay so that's everyone. Let's start."
"What do I do?" Amber asked.
"Just go stand next to Dusk and Henley and you'll be there before you know it. Also good choice of clothing, Adeline checked the weather where your going and it will be cold," Avery put a huge emphasis on the word cold.
Amber looked a little worried but did as Avery said none the less. Suddenly a kind of invisible force field surrounded Amber, and before she knew it she was in the snow.
She stood still and looked around for the others, one at a time they appeared."Let's get this over with," Dusk sighed with attitude.
"Who has the directions?" Amber asked. Both Amber and Dusk looked toward Henley. She was the eldest and was expected to have them, for some reason.
"I don't have them! If it was up to me we wouldn't be here," Henley crossed her arms. Amber couldn't help but think she looked like a stroppy toddler.
"And why is that?" Dusk asked suspiciously. Usually Amber would intervene, wanting to avoid conflict at all costs, but she also wanted to know.
Henley only shot her a warning glare, when Dusk didn't back down she looked away and spoke, "who cares. We don't have a map and we're stuck here for an hour or so."
"We could ask them directions," Amber pointed toward a house that was close by. They were in some sort of forest full of pine trees. The house was like a cabin and Amber felt the real wood against her fist as she knocked delicately on the door.
It opened and a young man stood at the door, at least 17."Hello?" He looked very taken aback. Amber lost her train of thought for only a second. Surprisingly it wasn't because of his good looks, which he had. He was tall and not at all skinny, with brown hair and blue eyes. But that's not what caught her attention, it was an energy she felt next to him.
"You have it," she whispered to herself. Dusk finally caught up to her, she was dragging her feet along at the back.
"We need to hang here for a while if that's cool?" Dusk asked bluntly.
"You can't just ask people that," Amber snapped out of her gaze, "what my friend means is, we were wondering if we could ask for directions. We need to find Connor Lewis."
"That's me," Connor said warily. His features were warm but his expression was skeptical.
"Awesome, well that was super easy," Dusk smiled, maybe for the first time ever. She reached back and tied up her long black hair into a high pony, but it still went past her waist.
"Sorry, can I ask why you are looking for me?" Connor looked around outside, so see of this was a prank or something.
"We here your from a family of witches," Henley chimed in from behind Amber.
And so Connor let them in and they explained it all, like they had to Amber. After a while, he was convinced. It was easier, considering he knew of his families magic past.
"Oh shoot we have to go back," Dusk said in an uninterested voice. Amber smiled at her sarcasm and they all left the house. Connor looked back only once, and Amber wondered if he was like her. No one to call family, isolated by his magic.

Wow so I made a mistake. In the second chapter I said that only females have the powers. But Connor was a character I developed before I even begun the story and he's so important that I couldn't just get rid of him. I've changed the mistake and deleted where I said only females. Please comment and vote:))
