A new girl was here apparently. She was supposed to be special. Avery saw her in a vision, she wins some sort of war for us. I didn't care, I'd been here since I was a baby and if anyone could win a war, it would be me. Just as this thought floated in my mind I crashed into someone.
"Sorry," she stammered rather politely. I hadn't seen this girl before, it had to be Amber. I knew everyone here, and everyone knew me, which means if she was anyone that knew me should would have been running from fear of my wrath by now.
"It's fine," I smiled half heartedly. She was so frail I was surprised I didn't slam her into the floor. As if she could win any war.
"I'm Amber," she smiled, but not in an overbearing way. She seemed introvert but not shy.
"I'm Dusk," I sighed.
"Dusk, that's interesting."
"Yeah named after the night or something. My parents were like super hippies."
"I'm named after my great grandma. Although her name was Ember, and my parents couldn't settle with that. I guess it makes sense now though," she had a thoughtful expression on her face.
Ember, I repeated it in my mind. She was lucky, named after the ever lasting burning remnants of a fire. Amber herself shon brightly. Her long fire red hair matched her name sake perfectly, and there was something in her goldy eyes that burnt.
"I'll see you round Amber," I smiled and walked off. Maybe she was just a little special after all.
