(Your POV)

"Can I help you?"

You look down and see a white rabbit. She wears a white uniform as well, and holds a watering can. You also notice that she has a bandage on her forearm.

"Oh, hi!" You say. You notice that Legosi stiffened up slightly when he saw her.

"I'm sorry, did you hear me?" She asks patiently. "Can I help you with anything?"

"Yes, actually." You say.

"There are two things: one, we're on the drama club and we need roses for the final scene of our play and we knew that here would be the best place to come. Also, I am a new student and I wanted to join some clubs. I love flowers, so, I thought I would fit right in."

She giggled. I tilted my head to the side and drooped an ear in confusion.

"You don't need to be worried about fitting in here." She says, turning around and watering a cluster of yellow flowers in a pot.

"I'm the only one on the gardening club since everyone else graduated. I'll be the only one you'll be around."

"Oh." You say. She turns to another pot next to the one she was watering and tries to pick it up.

However, it looks way too heavy and she almost falls over.

"Here." You say, taking it from her and helping her stand up right. "Mind if we help you out? So we can get the roses we need?"

She brushes off her uniform and folds her arms, looking at both of us.

"I guess I could use the help." She says. "I'm Haru, by the way."

"(Y/N)." You say.

"Legosi." He speaks behind you.

And just like that, we were put to work.

It probably took up most of the day.

For a little while, you didn't see Legosi or Haru. You didn't think much of it.

Until Legosi came out of the shed practically whimpering and eyes wide.

"Woah, what happened to you?" You asked.

He didn't stop to respond, he just kept walking. So you left the tulips you were assigned and followed him out.

"Hey, you okay?" You ask again.

"Mmm...okay..." He mumbles, voice cracking. He kept walking.

He kept walking until you got to the park, and sat down on a bench. He was stiff, and he looked down at his stomach. He felt it with his hands, shuddered, then straightened up again.

"Are you okay?" You repeated, making it more of a statement instead of a question.

"Mmm-mmm." He murmured.

"You don't sound okay. What happened?" You ask. Haru, what the heck did you do to him?

"Nothing." His voice cracked again. "I'm okay."

"You sure?" You ask. If he doesn't want to talk about it, he doesn't want to talk about it.

"Yeah." He says. He straightens up slightly. "I'm fine."

He looks up a little and notices the sunset. He stares at it, observing the sinking light and the colored sky. Trying to get his mind off of...something.

You looked at it, too.

You looked at the pink clouds, the way the sun changed as it descended.

The ombré of light around you, the colors that morphed and transformed as the sun left.

The gold that turned into pink, then magenta, then purple, then indigo.

When the stars started to appear and the street lamps began to turn on, you glanced over at Legosi.

He seemed much calmer now, and you were glad. He was such a big guy, you didn't really want to see what would happen when he was upset.

"We should probably get some dinner." You say, nudging him. He blinked a couple times and looked down at you.

"Yeah. Let's walk back together, you don't know this area too well yet." He said, standing up and waiting for you to get up too.

Standing up next to him, you both started walking back to the school.

Unfortunately, you never noticed that Legosi's tail was wagging the whole walk back.

If you had, you wouldn't believe why he was so happy anyway.

(Legosi's POV)

"So, did your club-hunting go well?" Jack asks between bites of his egg salad.

"Yeah, I joined the drama and gardening club." (Y/N) responds. I continue to eat, watching him. "Legosi acted a little weird after the gardening club, but he's fine now."

"Yeah, that's just Legosi!" Jack says with a big, joking smile.

"Oh, Legosi, I forgot to ask!" (Y/N) exclaims out of nowhere. I lift my head up a little higher and my ears perk.

My mouth is full of food, though. So I probably look...dumb.

"You said you were on the drama club, but you never said what role you have." He says, waving his chopsticks slightly. "What do you do in the club?"

"Oh..." I say, swallowing my food. "I help work the spotlight and other lighting. I tend to be on the ceiling a lot."

"So you're on the stage crew?"

"Yeah. Have been since my first year here."

"Cool. So you get an arial view of the play every time, right?"

"Yeah. Sometimes I know the blocking better than the actors."

(Y/N) starts to laugh. I tilt my head.

"Sorry, that just made the actors sound like idiots!" He says, still laughing. Jack joins in, too.

"Yeah, that's pretty much what you said!" Jack giggles.

"Oh! No, no, no, I didn't mean—" I say, embarrassed and frazzled.

"It's fine, I took no offense." (Y/N) says, winding down but still giggling.

I made him laugh.

I like his laugh, too.

It makes me happy.

"Oh, there's Haru!" (Y/N) says, glancing over. "I want to apologize for leaving so suddenly, I'll be right back."

He gets up and leaves me and Jack. Jack continues to eat his salad, and I just stare at my food, thinking about that rabbit.

I had hurt her.

And she seems to be very much alone.

And she...tried to do...something.

But it felt wrong.

Why did it feel wrong? If she was trying to do what I...think she wanted to do, then...

I should've felt...flattered at the least.

Instead I...felt sick.

What's wrong with me?

I'm a male, I need to fall in love with a female...

Right?
