We then made our way back to the penitentiary.
As we neared, we could see that something happened, as there were a lot of soldiers surrounding it.
Then a maid quickly came running to us and told Miss Brints,
"Miss Briants, the Emperor has arrived!"
"What?!" We both asked in unison.
"Yes, and I think that he especially came to inspect your cell, Miss Elle." She said.
"WHAT?!" I exclaimed louder.
"That bastard first had the audacity to lock me up and give me the guillotine for a crime I didn't even commit-" I stopped myself when I saw the looks the maid and Miss Brints were giving me.
"I know. I am sorry. Let's just deal with the storm." I said and walked forward.
"Miss Elle... uh... His Highness came to inspect the penitentiary and saw one cell empty." The head at the penitentiary, whose name I just learned near, Mark, told me.
"Oh. I was just out to take a bath." I said.
"Mm-hmm." The King said, and I so badly wanted to roll my eyes.
"How is um... everything going?" A person who came with the King asked.
"Oh My, everything is going so brilliantly. The cell is so bright. I can focus on my reading and writing. I just need to go out for using the toilet. And look-" I said and pointed to my changing room made of haystacks.
"-Who would have thought I would have the amazing chance to build a changing room to myself, that too made of haystacks.
I just need to take care of myself till the end of the month, when I am going to die and see God for myself.
I truly have to thank His Highness for giving me the amazing opportunity for keeping me behind bars for the forgery I am said to have done." I said, with a bright smile, and Miss Brints nudged me in the back.
Well, maybe I had gone a little overboard, but that guy deserved it.
And seriously, everyone in here is trying so hard to control their laughter. Even the Emperor's lackey.
"We are going to check the inner area." The lackey said.
"Yeah, sure. Why asking me? I am just the temporary lodger who is staying for just a month." I said and the lackey bit the insides of his cheek.
"Whoa." He said as he saw my cell clearly.
"Oh, I am very sorry about the mess. I never really thought that anyone important would come." I said.
"Honestly," Miss Brints started and every eye went to her.
"It is because all she does every day, other than getting a few hours of sleep, is writing. She even does that while eating, and I honestly don't even know if she knows what she is eating even." Miss Brints said.
"We had pancakes. With berries." I said.
"Yeah. Two weeks ago, when you first came to the penitentiary. Fourteen days have passed, dear." She said and I gave an awkward laugh.
"The reason why I was surprised was that you know a lot!" The Lackey said.
"Oh, I have traveled to a lot of places," without having to stay behind bars for forgery, I wanted to add, "And all these are what I learned from each journey.
"I had always wanted to write them down, because they are a lot of things in the Verinium Plains of the north, that I am afraid, a lot of people don't even know to exist.
And near the Guarding Mountains foothills, Goodness!!! I can't believe that people thought that they were ordinary grass and kept feeding it to the cows. The golden reason why their milk is the best of the best." I said.
"Oh, that's marvelous." He said.
"And there are a lot more too. I am afraid I won't be even able to write down the quarter of things I actually want to." I said, picking up the papers lying here and there.
"Gillems, giver her ink and papyruses whenever she needs them, got it?" The Lackey asked.
"Yes, sir." He said.
"And do you mind if I handled these papers? And if I don't include your name?" He asked.
"Oh please, I would love it, if you make it known to the outside world. I mean, that's the sole reason behind why I am even writing this.
But I am not enough of a Saint to tell that, I wouldn't care if the people know it was from me or not. It just matters to me for my research to be known.
No. I need to be known for my works. I am sorry." I gave out a laugh.
"And if I find out that you missed out on my name in these papers, I will literally sue you of copyright, from heaven," I said and he chuckled.
"Understood, Lady...?" He asked.
"Elle," I said.
"Yes... Lady Elle."
"Enough!" And for the first time that day, the King spoke.
"We have seen what we had needed to see. We shall return now. Please take care of things around here, Miss Briants." The King said.
"Will do, Your Highness." She said, bowing.
"Hey, but we came for" The Lackey was about to say something, but the King stopped him.
"As, I have said, we have seen, what we had needed to see. Now we shall return. Shall we?" The King asked his lackey.
"Yes, Your Highness."
