(Y/N) sat down on the broken curb with a small grunt, stretching her legs out in front of her as she and Joel waited for Ellie to be done doing her business in the house behind them. Joel chuckled and sat down beside her, mimicking her childish position as a small breeze swept past them, "Where are we headed now?" He asked, breaking the silence. (Y/N) thought about it for a moment, furrowing her brows, "Detroit. I'm hoping that we'll be able to cross over Ambassador Bridge and get into Canada." She replied.
"Then, we'll head up to Toronto, get some extra supplies, and leave for Trenton."
(Y/N) continued to plan out, not believing that they were so close yet so far. Joel smiled and nodded, rubbing his beard with his hand, "You must be gettin' pretty excited, huh?" He asked her. (Y/N) nodded and shrugged in response, looking up at the blue sky, "I think anxious is a better way to put it. I mean, when we left Jackson I believed that they were still alive. But now....." Joel furrowed his brows and looked over at her with gentle eyes, "You're having second thoughts."(Y/N) sighed quietly and looked down at the cracked street, watching as a small ant crawled into its home. Joel put a comforting hand on her shoulder and gave it a gently squeeze, "Hey, even if they're not there or if they....passed, you're always welcome back at Jackson." Joel spoke up, "I know Ellie, hell, even Tommy and Maria, would be happy for you to stay."
"And if they are there, we'll be even happier for you." Joel finished, giving
(Y/N) a small smile. (Y/N) chuckled and shook her head, looking up from the ground as Ellie left the house, "Thanks, Texas." She replied before standing up, turning to face Ellie, "Ready to go, Pipsqueak?" She asked the brown haired girl, immediately flashing a fake grin at her. Ellie immediately grinned back at her and nodded as she walked over to them, "Ready!"(Y/N) nodded back at her, stuffing her hands in her pockets as they started to walk down the broken street, squeezing past broken down cars and old bikes. Ellie suddenly let out a quiet groan, breaking the silence after a few minutes of walking, "We need something to do." Ellie said, quickly cutting (Y/N) off as she opened her mouth, "And no, walking is not something to do."
"We need like a game or something to pass the time, like......Oh! I know! Eye spy!" Ellie exclaimed, a bright smile stretching across her face. (Y/N) furrowed her brows and raised a brow at Ellie, who was walking in between her and Joel, "What the fuck is that?" She questioned, causing Joel to chuckle, somehow forgetting that (Y/N) wasn't as cultured at they were.
