8 Days and 19 Minutes Later

(Y/N) sucked in a deep breath, standing in front of the double doors that led into the bar where the town was having it's Valentine's Day party even though nobody really celebrated it anymore. She could hear the music that they were playing, people laughing as their partners spun them while they danced, and the loud conversations that over lapped each other creating one loud, chaotic conversation.

Fumbling with the strap of her guitar, (Y/N) swallowed thickly and opened the door, sucking in a harsh breath as she saw the amount of people in the bar. From anyone else's point of view, she looked like the only black sheep in a flock of white as she hesitantly walked up to the bar, ordering a drink to calm herself down, "Whiskey, please." She said, getting a look from the bartender as he wiped down the counter before making the drink for her.

"Don't like parties?" The bartender asked over the loud music, seeing how (Y/N) started to bounce her leg after she sat down in one of the bar stools. (Y/N) looked around the room for a moment, a small, barely visible, smile coming to her face as she saw Ellie goofily dancing around Joel as he crossed this arms in fake annoyance before she looked at the bartender, "Not the best in crowds." She answered as he slid her drink over to her. Picking up the glass, (Y/N) took a sip, her throat burning as she swallowed the alcoholic drink, "How many times does this place do this?"

"About five times a year, just to celebrate having a stable life in this clusterfuck that we have to call home." The bartender said with a harsh chuckled as he tried not to look at the cuts and bruises on (Y/N)'s face and neck, "If you don't mind me askin', what happened to you?" (Y/N) gulped down the rest of her drink, tapping her finger on the glass, signaling that she wanted a refill, "One of the recruits at the patrol tryouts a few days ago got to frustrated at the fact that I was kicking his ass in hand to hand combat." She said as the bartender filled up her drink.

"Tackled me to the ground and beat the shit outta me." (Y/N) continued, staring down into her glass, "I turned the tables pretty quick." She said, gaining a chuckle from the bartender, "If you think my face is bad you should see his." She chuckled, taking a long sip out of her drink. The bartender tapped on the table, "I heard about that, that bastard got what he deserved. Startin' an illegal fight like that."

"News like that spreads pretty quick in a small town like this. You've taken this place by storm. First saving my son and those other kids and now wiping away the competition at tryouts." He ranted, causing (Y/N) to furrow her brows together tightly, "Your son?" She questioned as the song changed, loud cheers echoing through the bar. The bartender nodded and gave her a smile, "The one who slipped in the middle of the road while that horse was loose, that was my boy."
