"Nicole! Open the door!"
I groaned as I tried my best to get up from the floor with a raging headache. And he'll, I was hungry.
I glanced up to the window, making my way to the door. The su isn't even up yet I glanced down to my watch, realizing the incident happened just 3 hours ago. "Open up! This is important." Uncle Theo side on the other side.
I opened the door to see uncle Theo and Madelein standing together. "What? I swear if this is Seth, I'm not going to apologize. He came at me."
Madelein scoffed and turned to uncle with deep scowl and her arms in front of her chest, as if giving him a silent massage. That's when I noticed the paper in her hands.
I panicked. If that's what I think it is, then I'm dead. I reached down to my shorts and frantically patting it to feel if it's down there.
"You can just stop, Nicole. We found what you were looking for." Uncle Theo explained.
Oh fuck no. This can't be happening. No, no, no! I gulp as my stomach turned. Anxiety took control.
"What's wrong, sweety? You look a little pale." Madelein commented with a evil smile plastered on her face. "You thought you could hide this from us? How stupid of you?"
"Come on. Let's go talk about this downstairs." Uncle Theo suggested.
"No! We're not going anymore, because there's nothing to talk about!"
"Oh, stop! Stop with the stubbornness and stop being dramatic! We have had enough of you!" Madelein complained.
I rolled my eyes, "Listen here, You plastic—"
"Nicole! Stop it!" Uncle Theo yelled through the air. "Remember that she is still you're stepmom. You are only not disrespecting her, but also me for disobeying my orders. Get your butt down there now!" He ordered.
I glanced between the two of them, brows forrowed. Uncle Theo had never supported Madelein before. Deciding not to question it, I scoff before making my way downstairs, them following after me.
We sat in front of the fireplace, I sat closely next to it where as Madelein and uncle sat on the same couch, to close for my liking as their knees and shoulders rubbed against it other.
"Well, Nicole. Since you already know the context of the letter then their shouldn't be a lot of explaining to do. It's definitely confirmed. You are engaged."
I could feel my heart in my throat as he spoke the last sentence. My anxiety now at sky high as I grabbed onto my bouncing knees with my sweaty hands while my stomach turned so much that I thought I was going to throw up.
"But–But the letter says that it'll only happen a week after my father's death. Dad died last month. Don't you think they would've reached out by now?" I questioned.
"Oh you don't worry about it." Madelein added. "We reached out as soon as we found out about and it turns out that they didn't even know Daniel died. Infact, they were so happy that they'll be hear very soon." She said with a evil grin.
Sweat dripped down my forehead as she spoke every word. A look of worry drown right on it. "I–I..." Choosing to let my next words come out carefully, because of my uncle's sudden temper, I adjust myself in my seat and sit up confidently straight. "I–I"
Fuck it. "You bitches must have me mixed up with some other whore." They both gasp.
My uncle stood up immediately and so did I, "Nicole! I–"
"Shut the fuck up, my God! I know what this is all about. Ever since my father died, all you two have done is try to get rid of me. At first I thought it was only this slut over here, but you too. That's fucked up. So if you think I'm going to give into this shit then both of you might as well kiss my virgin ass."
And so, with confidence that was as high as me. I turned on my heel and started walking.
"Then it seems as though your father wanted to get rid of you too." Madelein spoke, completely stopping me in my tracks. "Since he was the one who sat up this engagement. Looks like nobody wants you around, Nicole. I mean, your mother left you at one years old to take care of a child she had outside the marriage. And now this, this letter was set up when you were just 3 years old. Meaning he didn't want you from the start."
I stayed glued to my spot as I listened to every word she said. Soft tears rolled down as I stood with my back towards them, hoping they wouldn't hear my whimpers. After finally convincing myself that she's lying, I finally moved and went upstairs
