Delusion played an enormous role in all of this, it had from the very beginning, but it only ever seemed to demonstrate itself in one specific individual.

Nicole was delusional.

Especially now imaginary bells rang through her head as she continued her ample down the aisle with Simona next to her.

Nicole Believed the people around her were ogling her beauty in the stolen wedding dress instead of the terror that each one of them held.

Even with the smile that had been forced upon Simona, she somehow believed that it was self-important to Simona seeing as they were friends.

Nevertheless, the biggest impostor to her figments was now in front of her.

Aiden and Nicole stood now hand in hand with one another.

She pictured him staring down at her with loving eyes, his heart anxious with unexplainable joy because today was the day he was to marry the love of his life.

But, Nicole couldn't keep lying to herself. Maybe the disillusions had become her coping mechanism because even she knew all of it was simply lies. She had to make the marriage better for herself.

Her soon-to-be wasn't focused though his sight was transfixed on her and Nicole could sense. Nicole wondered why exactly, maybe, it was because they were already 15 minutes into the actual. That should have been an adequate reason enough, she too was tired of the foreign preaching.

The other reason was exclusively overthinking, but here's the thing, Nicole trusted her overthinking wholeheartedly. It always proved her right and prepared.

So, what looked like a man glancing down at his most beloved, was a complete travesty to Nicole.

I bet he's imagining Simona right now, here where I'm standing. In this beautiful wedding dress, holding her hands. What a shame.

Her thoughts rendered on before she watched his mouth open.

"In the presence of God, I take you, Nicole Black, to my lawfully wedded wife till the end of our days together."

Appall, it was the only word that could decipher the raw emotion that plagued Nicole. Aidan grinned after his line of vows, peering down at his fuming soon-to-be.

It's ok, Nicole. It's fucking okay. The mantra was chanted continually into the bride's mind. The mindless vows ridiculed her to her fullest, but what alarmed her, even more, was how fast the ceremony was moving. Both the priest and Aiden peeked don't her, signifying the continuance.

She took a deep breath, rehearsing the lines that had been inscribed by herself when she was a mere preteen. But, she hesitated the output of sacred words, considering who she was marrying, and to help with that, Nicole closed her eyes.

"From this day forth, I promise to you, Aiden Seraino..." Another deep breath.

"I promise to be to be your companion, lover, and friend. I promise to be your loving, caring faithful wife. Today, I pledge to honor and support you as my life partner every day till my last breath gives out."

Nicole thought it had to be the holy spirit at that exact moment because for whatever reason, her eyes had popped open on their own. Aiden's gaze didn't falter though, he had been watching the whole time.

"I can continue with all of this, Aiden, but I love you more than any of these covenants can articulate,"

Nicole's face hardened for a juncture, realizing she had gone off-script and wondering whether or not the words were meant, she had hoped Aidan wouldn't take these words to heart.

"A lifetime spent together starts with the words I do, yet I don't think I'd find a better person to say it to...That is my promise."

Nicole completed her turn of vows with a smile. The priest continues with biblical words, he then turned to Aiden and said something to him. Aiden shrugged his shoulders and the pastor shook his head slightly, a frown lacing his face.

That's when Nicole realized what part of the ceremony it was. She sulked immediately, acknowledging that the ring exchange wouldn't happen because Aiden had not considered that a luxury.

Finally, the priest flailed out of language Nicole knew little of. "Well, you may kiss the bride."

Aiden leaned in, nudging her by her waist as Nicole shook her head a little. He grinned at her almost lovingly, pulling her closer but before his lips reached her's & his eyes fluttered closed, They flicked past Nicole. She was sure he held a stare with Simona before crashing his lips into her, stealing her oxygen. Her eyes eased closed & her knees went weak, but just like that, it was over.

The Hall went deadly silent as they let go of each other, Aiden still held her waist as he ushered her to the exit. Her head snapped back to the sound of a scream. Simona was being dragged to the exit on the opposite side but Aiden's men.

She glanced up at the man holding her, "Just keep walking, wife." It sounded too sweet on his mouth, fake almost. They were out the hall and Nicole was back in the car. Aiden stuffed her dress to fit as she stared at him. His beautiful features always amazed her, his eyes the most, the color of the forest.

She wasn't in focus, however. She watched his mouth move but didn't hear much as her gaze moved from him to the car mirror. Her blond her was a mess, knotted even, & the white wedding dress she stole looked almost an off yellow on her skin.

"Nicole, did you hear me?" Aiden said, still at her door. Her gaze was back to him as he shook his head. Aiden leaned into the car, tugging at the seat belt. He was so incredibly close it made her breath hitch, she watched him struggle due to the dress. Aiden glanced back up at her, "Why are you staring at me, Nicole? You wanna kiss me again?" He teased, but still she said nothing.

Aiden could see she was distress, a little lost even, so he leaned in, moving past the ruffles off the dress. "Where's your head, Nicole?" He moved a strand of blonde aside from her face and really looked at her. To him, she was always somehow gorgeous, even when she didn't take care of herself. It was almost effortless and raw. "You look beautiful," he rasped out.

Her thoughts went silent and she actually heard him, but just like that he was off her. "When are we going home?"

"That is not home, Nicole." He turned back to the building, "I have to go handle something then we can go."

She assumed it had something to due with Simona, but she didn't ask. Aiden was gone and Nicole sat alone in the car, wondering if it was too late to become a runaway bride
