It's a beautiful day and the birds keep singing. I imitate Aang and sit on a tree waiting for Sokka to come back with something to eat, while Katara sits on the ground folding a blanket.
Momo chatters flying closer to us being followed by Sokka. When Momo lands on my lap, I start petting him.
Sokka kneels next to Katara and opens a small brown bag.
"Great! You're back." Aang says, floating to Sokka's side. "What's for dinner?"
Sokka peeks out of his bag. "We've got a few options." He reaches in and rummages. "First, round nuts and some kind of oval-shaped nuts." He takes out the nuts. "And some rock-shaped nuts that might just be rocks." Sokka throws the rock and Momo runs out to catch it.
I get up and approach them.
"Dig in!" Sokka smiles and puts a nut in my hand as I sit next to him.
Aang, Katara and I glance confused at each other and then look at Sokka skeptically.
"Seriously, what else you got?" Katara asks.
Sokka peeks one more time into his bag but it seems like there's nothing else. Suddenly, a strong blow in the distance puts us all on alert.
"What was that!?" Sokka yells in panic.
"Shh." I put my finger in front of my lips. We remain silent waiting to hear the sound once again.
This time the blow sounds louder.
"It's coming from over there!" Aang points in front of us and stands up.
Katara and Aang start running to the noise but I hesitate. 'It could be dangerous.'
"Shouldn't we run away from hughe booms, not toward them!?" Sokka exclaims next to me, but Aang and Katara keep moving further.
"Let's just go." I get up, take Sokka by the hand and run after them.
We get behind a fallen tree trunk and see, not so far away, a boy about my age standing there facing some boulders. He lifts up his arms and, next moment, the rock picks up from the ground to then be thrown to the other side causing a loud boom.
I look at the scene with amazement.
"An earthbender." Katara whispers.
"Let's go meet him." Aang smiles excited.
I look at the earthbender worried. "I don't know if that's a good idea."
"He looks dangerous, so we better approach cautiously." Sokka says.
Before we could notice it, Katara stands up and approaches the earthbender. "Hello there! I'm Katara." She yells. "What's your name!?"
The boy turns to look at us and gasps. He puts the rock he was about to throw back into the ground and goes off running, blocking the road behind him with a small avalanche of stones.
