Going to Farona

Chapter 2

Dinner at the Dalms house was very quiet. Lily's dad finally broke the silence.

"Lily, are you excited to go to boarding school?"

"I'm a little nervous. But I'm excited to go with Macey." Lily admitted.

"School starts in two weeks," her stepmother began, "do you have most of your things packed?"

"Yes. Where is Farona again, Dad?" Lily asked due to her horrible memory.

"It's in New York," he replied.

'Wow, New York. On my own. Should I be scared? What if I get homesick? I can always call, right?' Lily sat there with the worries running through her mind.

"May I be excused?" Lily asked. She couldn't sand to sit still for a long time. She was dyslexic and ADHD. 'What if I fail because if that?' Worries seemed to continue to scream in her head. But she wanted to go. She couldn't let Macey go alone. Besides her father would probably make her go anyways.

The 2 weeks flew by. After what felt what like a few days it was time to drive to the airport to go to New York.

"Lily!!!!"

Lily jumped back to see her best friend pulling a large suitcase.

"Hi Macey. Do you really need all of that stuff?" Lily asked eyeing her friend's large luggage.

"Of course I do. What am I supposed to wear? Are you excited?" Macey asked.

"Yeah I am. This will be interesting," Lily replied.

Just then her dad pulled her aside. "Lily before you go, I wanted to give you this." He pulled out a beautiful necklace. It had a flower pendent in the center. Around the sides of the pendent vines wrapped themselves throughout the charm. "It was the one thing your mother left us after you were born."
'Wow' Lily thought, 'Dad never talks about Mom. Now he's giving me her necklace.'
"Bye Dad. I'll miss you so much." Lily told her father. He pulled her into a bear hug.
"I'll miss you to. Have a great time." He told her.

As Lily and Macey boarded the plane she pondered why her dad when he would give her the piece of jewelry that now hung from her neck. After sitting down the plane began to move. Lily looked out the window one last time to see her parents standing and watching the plane fly away.

The plane ride was long and boring. Macey sat to Lily's left and to her right sat a strange man. He had a limp and wore an orange baseball cap. The man ate the awful airplane food, and when he noticed Lily nor Macey where eating theirs he ate their servings too.

The plane landed around 7am in the morning. The girls collected their luggage and tried to get a cab. As the girls slid into the cab Lily was becoming nervous but excited at the same time.

"Where to?" the cabbie asked.

"Ferona Academy," Macey replied.

Just then Lily caught a glimpse at the cab driver and could have sworn it was the same person. The cabbie had caramel colored hair was barely visible under an orange ball cap. His hazel eyes looked exactly the same as the passenger that sat with them on the plane.

After a short ride the young girls arrived at Ferona Academy. They paid the cab driver and walked into the school.
