Three months later
"Hey love.." Matthew said as he came in.
"Hey.." she said as she kissed him.
"We need to talk.." he said
Delaney looked up at him, "Talk?" She said as she got a sick feeling.
"Yeah.." he' said as he took her over to her couch.
They both sat down he took her hands. "I got a phone call this morning..from UC San Diego Hospital..they are offering me a job. They want me to be their new Chief of Medicine." Matthew said
"Oh wow.." she said as a tear fell.
"Dela love.." he whispered as he wiped the tears falling down her cheeks.
"You should take it. It's closer to your family and it's incredible opportunity for you Matt." She said with a shaky voice.
He wiped her tears. "Dela I won't take it if it means I'm hurting you.." he said
"No no I'll be fine. I don't want to hold you back from this amazing opportunity. You should go and call them back.." she said as she swallowed back the lump in her throat.
She held his face. "I love you, and I love you enough to let you go Matt. If this is meant to be then life will bring us back together. But you deserve this Matthew and I'm not going to be the reason you don't take this." She said
He wiped his own tears and whispered "I love you too." as he kissed her.
They rested their foreheads together for a few minutes before letting each other go. After he left the office Zara and Shemia came in when they saw him crying as he left.
"Dela what happened?" Shemia said as she hugged her crying cousin.
Both girls hugged her as she broke into tears.
