(4) Paging Dr Delaney Peterson

Two weeks later 

Bucky was paged to the ER. "Room 28." The nurse said 

"Thanks." He said as he took the chart. 

"Good morning I'm Dr James Barnes. What happened?" Bucky said 

"Hi Dr Barnes I'm Alice Peterson. This is my husband we were having brunch with my parents. When Albert here started to have chest pains. He had a mild heart attack last year." Alice said 

"What happened after he started having chest pains." Bucky said as he listened to his heart. 

"Nothing at first until he fell on the floor gasping for air." She said 

A nurse came in. "Harriet..get me a Echo,EKG, MRI and chest x ray. Go ahead and admit him for observation. Also get me a coronary angiogram as well." He said 

"Yes Dr Barnes." Harriet said 

"Page me when you get the results." He said 

"Of course." Harriet said 

"Mrs Peterson we are going to do everything we can to see what caused your husband's heart attack. I'll be with you all as soon as I get the test results." Bucky said as he finished filling out the chart. 

"Thank you Dr Barnes." Alice said 

Albert started to wake up. "Good morning Mr Peterson. I'm Dr Barnes nice of you to join us again." Bucky said 

"Can I go home?" Albert said 

"Not yet. We are going to get you checked out run some tests. We need to make sure your ticker is working properly. So you sit tight and I'll see you all in a few hours." Bucky said as he left. 

A few hours later Bucky got the tests results. "Damn it.." he whispered when he saw the 80% blockage on his left artery and 50% on his right. 

He went to the waiting room where the Petersons was. They had admitted Albert yet until they had the results. When he walked in he saw Delaney in pink scrubs. 

"Oh fuck me.." he thought to himself 

"Oh look there he is. Dr Barnes how were his results? Do we get to go home in the morning?" Alice said 

Delaney looked like a deer in head lights when she seen him. "Uh, no actually I went ahead and scheduled him to have a surgery tomorrow afternoon. What caused his heart attack is the blockage he has on both arteries. If we don't take care of this now it could get worse so we need to get in clean them out." He said 

Alice felt tears well as she grabbed her daughter's hand. "We need to call the rest of the family Dela." Alice said in a low tone. 

"Okay..mom." She whispered 

"Harriet here will take you to see him." Bucky said 

Delaney was about to follow them when Bucky stopped her. 

"Hey about the other night.." he whispered 

"Don't worry about it. Just focus on my dad..we were both extremely drunk and we hooked up. It was one night James it doesn't matter to me that you left before dawn." She said as she walked off. 

As she disappeared he thought "But I'm married..just separated."
