Annabelle kept running, ignoring her mom yelling after her. She ran toward the forest the mostly surrounding their house. Megan lived just on the other side. Her parents were allergic to pine trees, which is mostly what the forest was, so they would not be following her.
How bad could her plan be? Annabelle thought, wait this is Megan's plan... It could be disastrous.. Oh well!
As she ran through the beautiful forest all she could smell was the scent of fresh pine, which was her favorite smell on earth.
After a long 2-mile run Annabelle saw Megan's house coming into view. A tall coco brown wood and stone house, that reminded Annabelle of a lodge.
She jogged up the steps and was about to knock, but hesitated. What's if Megan's parents started asking questions? Instead she decided to text Megan.
Hey I'm outside your house, come open the door. ~Annabelle
Oh, ok c u in a sec! ~MeganAnnabelle stood awkwardly waiting for the door to open. Finally it did. Megan opened the door, still in her pjs. She wore a simple t-shirt and sweatpants.
"Hey, what happened? Like you didn't call or anything..." Megan asked uncertainly. She stared at Annabelle waiting for an answer, as she tucked her blonde hair behind her ear.
"Um I'll explain in a minute, can I come in now?" Annabelle said. Megan eyed her suspiciously but let her in. They walked quickly upstairs to Megan's room and sat in her bean bag chairs.
"So what exactly happened?" Megan questioned with a curious look.
"Well the headmaster for that boarding school called...." Annabelle began explaining. After a long and detailed story of what'd happened, Megan stared at her in complete dumbfounded shock. Annabelle stared uncomfortably at the ground.
"What?!" Megan managed to say in response to Annabelle's story. Annabelle stared at her expectantly. Though Megan had zoned out, seemingly deep in thought.
"Well what's your plan meg?" Annabelle's voice snapped her back to reality.
"I- I don't have one yet..." Megan said uncertainly. Usually she had a plan the moment it was needed but the one time that it was most crucial, her mind had gone blank.
"What? You always know what to do! If you can't think of a plan then I'm stuck being shipped off to Finland!" Annabelle half yelled in frustration. She ran her hands through her hair exasperatedly, half glaring at Megan.
"I know, I know I'm trying but I just don't have it yet." Megan said as she drifted back into thought. Megan refused to accept that her best friend in the entire world might be leaving. She was not about to let that happen. There had to be something. But it was August and they were running out of time to escape it.
"Well we should start planning anything and everything we can think of, no matter how ridiculous it is." Annabelle laughed as she grabbed a paper and sharpies from Megan's art supplies.
After hours of dead end ideas Megan and Annabelle were beginning to lose hope. But then, finally, Megan's face lit up with an idea.
"Wait I've got it!" Megan shouted abruptly, breaking the bored silence.
"Well what is it?!" Annabelle sat forward quickly becoming engaged in the conversation.
"Well it's all pretty much pinned to one important detail," Megan began outlining the plan, "belle do your parents know like anything about me?"
"What? why would that matter?" Annabelle frowned in confusion. If the whole plan was centered around her parents not knowing Megan, Annabelle was doubtful of how effective it would actually be.
