Time passes by like crazy. It's been 5 years, less than a week after that night with Ellie she gave me the papers to check out of the institution. I told her nothing could happen between us while I was still her patient. The truth is that I was kind of hoping Mina might come back. But she didn't, I never saw her again. That really hurted, I cared so much about her and she just left after we slept together. Ellie told me that she would only sign my realice if she could keep her eye on me to make sure I was okay. We started dating a month after that, I got a job at some firm as a secretary. The job wasn't much but the money was good. Ellie and I have been together for 5 years now, we're not married but we're living together.
She makes a lot of money with the institute and wants me not to work so we can spend as much time together as we could but I needed something going on. I couldn't rely so much on Ellie, put that kind of pressure on her.
Right now I'm in LA visiting Kurt, I just needed some time away so I made sure I scheduled the flight in a week I knew Ellie couldn't fly. It's not like she cares, I mean, she liked travelling with me but she doesn't really like Kurt. I actually think she doesn't like me hanging out with anyone but her. Of course I made some excuses like "it's only one week baby" "it's the only one that he has off"...
My phone rang as I was arriving at Kurt's apartment.
"Yeah?"
"Hi baby..." said my sweet Ellie.
"Hi love, the flight went great, I just got to Kurt's apartment, I was just about to call you"
"I was so worried, I thought you were going to call me when you landed" I could hear her frown over the phone
"Yeah, sorry it was just so crazy I forgot baby. Look Kurt's here, I'll talk to you later okay?"
"Okay, just don't forget again" she said laughing.
"Promise, love you"
"Love you too"
Kurt walked past by me and grabbed one of my bags. "Sheesh..." he said rolling his eyes.
"Was it that obvious?" I said rhetorically.
He proceeded to drag my ass to the nearest bar. Literally... drag... It was a bar on the corner of his apartment, a very poorly lit and shady bar with a weird comforting and private feeling to it. A real jem. It wasn't too clammy nor too empty. It was just really nice. It really reminded me of Kurt for some reason, he had really put his face into it. They play live every Friday and Saturday with his band and this place makes him really happy. I'm glad for him, that he found something that he really likes.
I had to settle for some shitty desk job, I mean it was okay if you don't know what you want but when you had all of these dreams it's just a soul breaker. But the money is really good and there is a plus of working just a job instead of a career. You can leave it all on the door and just be a teenager with pocket money to spend on the little things. Kurt promised me that if I ever had enough and just screamed fuck you to my boss I'd work here as a bartender/server and tips are good. I dream about some days, just say "fuck all" and desapear. But who doesn't?
He sat me in one of the back booths and sat across from me. One of his employees asked him if he could bring something to which he responded with "you bring her something with insanely amounts of vodka, some lemon and mint and two cubes of ice and she will drink it" the waiter looked at him as if he was joking and he added "And keep the sons o'bitches coming" with a commanding voice. I might have laughed a bit.
