Brad shook his head, cursing himself as he walked away.

How could he be so stupid? Interrupting her, asking whether what they were doing was the same as what she was doing with that guy. She's smart. She had to have worked out what his question meant. Which means that she had to know how Brad felt. He suddenly didn't feel well.

As he approached the booth, the guys perked up at the sight of him, but when he didn't cross the ropes, they frowned.

"I..." Brad started, chewing his bottom lip before continuing. "I'm gonna head home." He announced.

"Brad..." Tris said, sadly, but he knew why. They all knew why. "Come on, we can still have -"

"No, I don't feel well. I'm gonna call a taxi and head home. I'll see you guys in the morning." He waved half-heartedly, and spun on his heel to the exit before he could hear their protests.

He needed to clear his head. And he couldn't do that around her at the minute. Especially not when she was chatting up another guy.

Half an hour later, Tris, Connor and James had agreed that they wouldn't let Luka leave with that guy. Not in a controlling way. More in a 'they had to get Luka home and shove her in a room with Brad to talk this all out because they're being idiots' way.

They hated seeing Brad like this. Even though it had been less than two weeks, they knew their friend. He wasn't the type of person to be like this around someone - he usually outright said how he felt, which meant that Luka meant something important to him. They still couldn't work out exactly when his feelings for her had changed, but they knew it was no joke from the way he had been acting tonight.

Whether Brad and Luka would get together, they didn't know. They had no clue how Luka felt about him. But they knew that Brad had to at least talk to her about it. And Brad would be a lot less willing to do that if he knew she didn't stay out of the house tonight.

Which is why, when Luka came up to the ropes, putting her hands on the poles but not moving to unhook them, they readied themselves.

"Hey guys," She smiled as she shouted over to them. "I'm gonna head out, are you okay to get a taxi back?"

They all sat up straighter.

"Where are you going?" Tristan asked, trying to seem as blase as he could, as they all stood and walked towards her.

"Oh, I'm going with Tyler." She looked over her shoulder, and they followed her gaze to see Tyler leaning against the bar, watching her with a small smile of his own. "So you'll be okay?" She asked before trying to leave again.

"When are you coming back?"

"Uhh..." She shrugged. "Tomorrow?"

"You're... staying out with him?" Connor frowned at her, and she rolled her eyes.

"If that's what you wanna call it, sure."

"Luka I don't think that's a good idea..."

"God not you guys too." She groaned. "Look, I'm 27. I can have sex with whoever I want."

"Luka!" Tristan interrupted. "Is that really what you want to do right now?"

"You don't need meaningless sex with some idiot-" Connor added.

"Look, I love you guys," Luka said. "But everyone is being weirdly protective tonight. I'm fine. I'm not a child. I want to go and have fun, which I am entitled to. So you can explain that to anyone who might not understand."

"Who doesn't think you're entitled..." James asked, half knowing the answer.

"Who do you think? Which one of you isn't here right now?" She spat, making the guys shift their gazes from her. She took the silence as a chance, headed away from the situation that she really didn't want to get involved in, and headed towards Tyler. She managed to get him out the door and a few steps down the pavement before a voice called out to her.
