What happened next, was nothing too dissimilar to a game of hide and seek. Brad spent his time trying to seek Luka out in the crowd, to convince her to leave early with him, but everytime he had spotted her, and tried to make his way over to her, she had disappeared. Like she was purposefully trying to keep him on his toes. Purposefully trying to tease him.
Everytime he caught her eye, she would smile at him, knowingly, before turning away and inserting herself into another group's conversation. He couldn't get her by herself, not even once.
She was planning it the whole time. After this morning when she felt as though she hurt his feelings, telling him to chill out being around her, she had an idea. She had her own room that they could stay in tonight. She wanted to use that to its full potential. And it would be a lot more fun if she played with him a bit first.
The guys had given up trying to help Brad get close to her, and were actually enjoying watching their friend rush back and forth across the rooftop, trying to be polite to those making conversation with him, all while craning his neck over their heads to catch a glimpse of the pink hair he desperately craved to see.
There were a few moments where Brad had gotten near her, thinking he was about to win their little game, only for her to flip the tables on him.
This was one of those times.
He'd managed to catch her on one of the many times she was whizzing past, and dragged her into a semi-hidden little corner.
"Hey you." He smiled as he moved his hand from her elbow round her waist. She breathed in and took his arm from her. "No one can see us, it's fine."
"You're so persistent." She laughed. "But we are at a work party so I can't have you pawing at me the whole time."
"You didn't mind me 'pawing at you' last night." He teased, moving closer to her.
"We were in private then." She retorted, raising an eyebrow as he started to smile. "This is not private."
"Maybe we should go somewhere more private." He suggested, leaning down to kiss her, only to be stopped by her hand clamping over his mouth.
"I have some more jobs to do first, and you have some more face time to do with your guests."
He groaned behind her hand, before she took it away and stepped back from him. She waved at him, cheekily, before turning away and walking off.
And so the game continues.
There were a couple of times where he caught her eyes across the rooftop, just to watch her wink, or blow him a kiss, then waltz away. His resolve was chipping away every time she looked at him.
A little while later, he saw her talking to Connor, her back facing Brad, and Brad saw the perfect opportunity. He walked up behind her, slowly, but not so slow that she would have the chance to run off yet again. He brushed his hand against the small of her back, watching her shoulders tense before she turned around. Then she gave him a dazzling smile.
"Brad, I was wondering where you'd been. Seems like we keep missing each other all night." She said, perfectly innocently, but Brad knew there was an undertone of smugness in her words.
"Well, I'm here now. Luka why don't-" Brad started to say, his voice lowering a little as he began to pose his question, but then Connor interrupted.
"I was just telling Luka how awesome today has been, with the signings and this party. So many people here that have all been involved in our album, just blows you away doesn't it?" Connor asked, an odd little smile on his lips, as though he was hinting at something.
