He texted her as soon as he got home. Just a simple text, for now. She replied simply enough as well. He figured she was still a bit down from earlier, so he left it a couple of hours before sending another text. Well, a picture of his dog, who was beautiful enough to put anyone in a good mood.
Luka replied politely, but she still didn't seem herself, so over the next day, he just kept texting her picture updates, saying good morning, saying he wished she was here. That evening, he was settled in bed watching some Netflix on his laptop, when his phone rang.
Luka
He paused his show and picked up his phone as soon as he saw her name.
"Luka?"
"Heyyyy." She sang on the other end. "How you doing?"
He frowned. She sounded odd.
"Are you...Luka are you drunk?" He asked, moving his laptop to the side and sitting up.
"Nope." She paused. "Maybe a little."
"You don't drink."
"Nope. But I've had two ciders today. I'm celebrating."
"What are you celebrating, princess?" He laughed, loving how she's tipsy after two drinks.
"Celebrating having the house to myself." He could hear her smile in her words.
"Why are you drinking alone in an empty house?"
"Because, Bradley," She said his name in a mocking tone. He bit his lip to stop his laugh from escaping as he continued to listen. "It's the first day I've had less than 50 emails from the tour manager, so I thought I would utilise the relaxation time before it all goes crazy again, and enjoy having some time on my own."
"Makes sense." He agreed. "God knows there's no alone time on tour."
"Exactamundo." She chuckled, before going silent. "I've also just been thinking."
Here it was, he thought. The serious stuff.
"Thinking about what baby?" He asked when she didn't continue.
"You."
He breathed in, trying to ready himself for whatever bomb she was about to drop.
"I like you." She breathed.
"I know."
"No like...I really like you. Like more than sex like you."
"Is that right?" He asked, his eyebrows shooting up in surprise. His heart started feeling a bit giddy. "I more than sex like you too." He said, lowering his voice a bit as he glanced over at his door, not really wanting his parents to hear this conversation.
"I know." She teased, echoing his earlier words.
He smiled and laid back down on the bed, realising that this wasn't going to be the difficult conversation that he thought it would be.
"When did you know?" She asked, her voice sounding a little breathless.
"When did I know what?"
"That you liked me."
He inhaled. Jesus, he didn't know how to answer that, seeing as he wasn't entirely sure himself.
"Umm..." He said, trying to stall for time until his brain got into gear. "Sometime back...when you picked me up in the middle of the night. I think."
She was silent on the other end.
"You knew then?" She breathed.
"Well...I knew something was there then. That made me pay attention. When we went to The Hounds is when I think I first properly realised."
