"PICK UP, PICK UP..."Bonnie Everett paced around her small apartment, her phone clenched in her hand.
"Come on, you asshole..." Fear mixed with annoyance and anger traced in her blood as the small TV blasted the same message over and over again.
A global epidemic.
Some kind of sickness was spreading itself trough Atlanta like wildfire. What was it? A flu?
Just that message creeped the living hell out of her, she was ready to leave the city as soon as-
"Bon, baby, are you alright?" His voice finally rang out from the phone.
Bonnie let out a big breath that she was holding in. "Oh my God, finally... Do you have any idea what's going on?"
She asked her boyfriend of six years-, well, on and off. Even now, after a petty fight they had been broken up these last few days. But they always got back together. Maybe it was because of their son, or maybe because they were madly in love with each other but were too different to actually stick together. Bonnie always said it was the first, but deep down she could not admit that it was actually the latter.
"I don't know, people are going fucking crazy." Bonnie could hear sirens trough the phone on his line. "Where's Jackie? Is he okay?"
Like a reflex Bonnie turned to check on her son, creaked open and revealed the little boy tightly sleeping in his bed.
"He's sleeping. He's okay." Bonnie whispered to her ex partner.
"And how's the little one?" His rough voice softened.
Bonnie's palm rested on her cotton t-shirt, where under her stomach kicked up. "He's fine." She whispered out.
Bonnie Everett was already in her second trimester. Truth be told, she was terrified to have another child. Bills were already pilling up and her two jobs weren't getting easier. Alas, something worse than unpaid bills and serving tables was coming. Far worse.
Screams erupted from the other line making Bonnie jump. "Are you okay? Where are you?" She closed the door to Jackie's bedroom and walked further into the living room.
"I'm just outside my house. Things are bad here baby..." His voice sounded nervous.
This was truly bad. Her boyfriend wasn't one of who got scared easily. She didn't even remember the last time he was actually scared, besides Jackie's birth. The man fainted on sight as he walked into the birthing room.
"Listen..." His words suddenly mixed with the sound of static.
Bonnie's eyebrows scrunched together as she put her palm over her other ear, trying her best to carefully listen to his words.
"Pack a your bags and get Jack. Meet me at the high way by the 5th, I'll be there in a few with my car, we have to get away from the city- Fuck!"
The phone call ended in his scream.
"Negan? Negan?!" She looked down at her phone, "Shit..."
Bonnie met Negan Smith on her twentieth birthday. She and her friend Lauren were celebrating her birthday in a rundown bar on the outskirts of Atlanta when the man approached her. Talks turned into drinks, drinks turned into dances, dances turned into Negan fighting some guy over ogling Bonnie and that turned into them getting kicked out of the bar. Bonnie would never admit but the man excited her in ways even life couldn't. Two weeks after she found out that she was pregnant, which changed her life forever.
