16. ONE OF THEM
BONNIE COULD NOT GET USED TO FEELING CLEAN. She almost felt too clean for comfort. Her palms rode down the seamless, soft fabric of the dress she was wearing. As she looked back to her reflection in the bathroom mirror, she thought that her hollow face did not match up with the beautiful dress.
Today Jessie Anderson had knocked on their door again, yet again with a box in her hand.
Deanna was going to host a welcome party for their group, so Jessie had popped in with a box full of dresses for Bonnie.
With a one last look she exited the bathroom and entered her bedroom. The king sized bed was sprawled with dresses and Jessie looked as if she was in deep thoughts while looking over them.
"What about this one?" Bonnie asked.
Jessie turned and clapped her hands together, "I think this is the one!"
Bonnie eyed the simple, strapless pale green dress. "Yeah, I think it's nice."
"Nice?" Jessie looked in disbelief. "It looks gorgeous on you, Bonnie."
Bonnie really liked Jessie. But as much as she liked her, she couldn't fully trust her. Without even thinking, she analysed her every move, ready to fight back.
"I brought some heels and make up too, feel free to use them if you want to." Jessie stood from the bed and smile warmly towards her. "I have to get ready myself, so I'll see you at the party."
"What about all of this?" Bonnie lifted her brow and looked towards the full bed.
"Consider it a gift. Besides, all of them look better on you anyways." Jessie grinned.
"What? No way, I can't keep all of them." Bonnie shook her head.
Jessie was almost out the door when she said, "Too late, they're already your gift!"
Moments later Bonnie found herself shuffling through the make up bag Jessie left her. In the old world, Bonnie used to love make up, now she almost plucked her eyes out with the mascara wand.
Nonetheless, when Bonnie popped on some wedges, she uncomfortably she made her way down to the loving room.
Her eyes connected with Rick's. She felt herself smile coyly at him, she thought he looked as handsome as ever in his neat, white collared shirt.
"You look..." Rick's face was flustered.
She tried not to blush. "Oh, stop. I can barely walk in these things."
He was already by her side, pressing a warm kiss to her cheek. "You look very beautiful, Bon."
"You don't look too bad yourself, Grimes." She looked over his clean shaven face. "You ready for this?"
