Barry sat alone in his room once more. The date had been everything he wanted. He could still feel the embrace of shreks arms around him as they had parted ways. Maybe the crunch meant he did need to get his ribs checked out.
Barry pulled his beemovie blanket over his shoulder.
'chilly night,' he thought, wrapping his bee arms around himself, closing his eyes and curling up a bit more.
tok
Barry's eyes shot open.
tok
Barry sat up and looked around his room
Tok!
Barry's gaze finally landed on his window. He turned on his beemovie lamp and put on his beemovie dressing gown before opening the window.
It was dark and Barry could barely make out two figures. One was small and the other quite large. He squinted, trying to get a better look at them.
The larger one threw themselves against the side of his house and began to skitter up. Barry was quickly face to face with them.
"BARRY" gru climbed through the window before lowering his nose so shadow could climb up it.
"gru, what are you doing here? It's 2 am," Barry grumbled rubbing his eyes.
"I wanted to know how your date went!" gru squealed and waved his arms around, Barry would soon consider therapy.
Shadow hopped in through the window and shut it.
"did it go well?" Shadow asked. Barry stared at him confused
"Shadow you picked me up from the date... You live here.." Shadow raised his hand to shush the freakishly large bee.
There was a crash, Barry turned around to see Gru perched on his shelf. Everything that had been on the shelf were in pieces on the floor. Barry had liked that piggybank...
(Ignore that im writing this 3 years later, writing style has CHANGED so whoopsie)
"It was.. nice" Barry thought, he remembered that beautiful dress that perfectly captured the bulging muscles of the scottish beast. he clasped a hand over his mouth, his eyes darting around looking for any remnants the green hunk could have left on his departure. his eyes landed on perfection, the half eaten slowly moulding bagel that had been dragged to his doorstep by the beautiful creature. a smile tugged at his lips as he remembered his time with Shrek and all the fun they got up to, such as: going on rides, kiss, and idk i didnt reread the chapter im not that inclined towards self harm.
Shadow followed his eyes and noticed the bagel,
"Oooo~" he teased completely monotone, "Did Mr Right leave you a parting gift?" Shadow pointed at the bread, Gru slowly approached it on all fours, his knees definitely backwards and nose sniffing wildy around the bagel. he opened his mouth for a little nibble.
"Hey! Nooo- Bad Gru! Bad!" Barry shooed him off with the bat of a newspaper, Gru whined with each bonk and shuffled away, latching onto the wall and crawling into the corner of the ceiling. the telltale signs of a gru nest were already appearing.
Barry picked up the bagel and sighed dreamily, "Shadow, have you ever loved someone so deeply that even things they discard hold a dear place in your heart?" he looked over his shoulder, strength in his eyes, and a deep yearning for his boyfriend to return to his side.
"No." Shadow replied cooly, flipping his super cool emo hair and putting his hands into the pockets of his oversized zip up hoodie.
barry looked back to the bagel, he rested it gently on his night stand. he tucked it in with his miniature beemovie blanket. he smooched it on the forehead (?) and tucked himself into bed, resting his head on his pillow.
Shadow left the room and turned the lights off for Barry. He smiled as the door shut. Barry slept soundly not realising the danger that hid in the shadows of his ceiling.
