Chapter 1

In a galaxy far, far away, the fearsome General Hux rose from his chair, clasping his hands behind his back at the sound of others reflecting his actions. The General had just concluded one of many meetings with an allied group of the First Order to keep the many ties they had. Well, those who remained after their most recent failure.

It had been three months since the downfall of Star Killer Base. Hux's life work. The Order's biggest accomplishment to date. Ever since the planet had combusted, the First Order had been hard at work to ensure their associates that there was still a point in supporting their cause. Most had stayed faithful, being wise enough to know that their fall would only be short-lived before they'd rise from their ashes- better than ever. Nonetheless, someone had to be the one to attend the hundreds of meetings to secure their partnerships. This person being nonother than General Hux.

These mind-numbing meetings had taken place for three months now, scattered across the galaxy and lasted hours before a final solution had been made that satisfied both parties. Hux had attended every single one, making sure a higher-ranked member of the First Order was there to either: make the offer or to be used as a form of persuasion for his lower-ranked officers doing the meetings. The ginger wanted to make sure everything after the destruction of Star Killer was going to run smoothly, leaving no cracks in the new layer of concrete set upon the First Order- preventing any further invasion from dim-witted resistance members.

But all this wear-and-tear had left the General in poor health. Hux could feel his back pain more prominently every day, the bags under his eyes weighing more as his sleepless nights became the norm, his stomach growling louder as it begged for any form of nutrition. Hux hadn't been on the Finalizer in months, too busy dropping himself on distant planets or ships he was sent to by Supreme Leader Snoke. He knew the one place he would allow himself to sleep- the Finalizer. Even so, his ship now held a close connection to Star Killer, which made him antsy at the idea of returning. So it was to his dismay that when all those officials had left the meeting room, Lieutenant Mitaka had made a swift entrance with a datapad instructing him to return. General Hux had openly grimaced as his eyes read the words in front of him, letting at least some emotions slip at his distaste to the idea of returning to one of his closest colleagues. Mitaka even spared a meek smile to show his understanding before excusing himself to continue with his work.

Hux had returned to his temporary quarters that night and stared at his poor reflection through biased eyes. From being overworked, the General's appearance had become more sloppy in recent times. His hair had grown out several inches as well as some stubble coming to light on his cheeks and chin. He ran a gloved hand through his hair, scowling at himself for letting himself get this far. Before he knew what he was doing, he made a beeline for his fresher; only emerging an hour or so later when he had freshened up.

-

"General Hux, your ship is ready to return to the Finalizer when-" Lieutenant Mitaka's words had fallen short as he looked up from his datapad from the entrance of the transporter, meeting eyes with the freshly groomed General. The lieutenant had been in shock at how quickly his superior had changed from a drained soul the night before, to the immaculately presented General who stood before him. Mitaka had almost let a smile slip, seeing how Hux had finally come to his senses.

"Let us return at the earliest time possible," Hux replied, filling the space at the end of his lieutenant's sentence, nodding briefly in acknowledgement before boarding the ship. Mitaka nodded in return. A sense of satisfaction returned to him at the thought that things were going to start going back to normal. So he closed his datapad and held it under his arm, buzzing the com button at the top of the ramp to inform the pilot they were to set off.

----------

"Yes, Supreme Leader."

Hux took his leave, buzzing himself out of the hologram room and walking into the corridor outside. The ginger hadn't anytime to return to the bridge once he had boarded the Finalizer, instantly being ushered into a meeting with Snoke to confirm information from his time away. But, with all official business being settled with his superior, he had time to reinstate his position as the leader of the ship. His Finalizer.
