The gentle humming of electronics and the vibrations of the engine running had woken Hux up this time. No blaring alarms, no Mitaka barging into his office with a report, just the quiet sounds of the ship. Hux attempted to sit up, his shoulder made a quick reminder of his condition and made him stop halfway up. He took a moment to scan his surroundings and found his bloodied clothes in the pile to his right and Ren sat in the chair to his left. Ren pressed himself to the back of the folding chair he sat on, arms folded over his chest as his head hung low while he slept.
Hux wondered why Ren had stayed, not just gotten a stormtrooper like he said he had; nevertheless, it left a heavy feeling in his chest. As he stared at Ren, it was a reminder of how he had too sat by his side after Star Killer, wondering of the consequences of the event.
"You're awake," Ren mumbled as he lifted his head and made eye contact with Hux behind droopy eyes. "I got a stormtrooper in to watch your condition while I reported back to Supreme Leader Snoke. Snoke will be taking the matter up himself, he doesn't wish to risk your life any further while he needs you elsewhere."
"How touching," the injured groaned as he finally sat upright and mentally silenced the sounds of pain he wanted to release. While there may be something less aggressive going on between the pair, he was in no way going to show weakness- not to Ren, not to anyone. "How far are we from the Finalizer?"
"About another ten minutes in hyper-speed before we dock. Lieutenant Mitaka will be awaiting your arrival in the hanger to update your status reports." By now Ren had gotten up from his chair and had walked around the bed, staring briefly at the pile of bloodied clothes before moving his gaze to the medical supplies on a counter. Picking them up and placing them beside Hux, before walking back to his chair to retrieve his helmet and walking to the door. "I'm going to fetch that stormtrooper, GT-8437, to help change the bacta pack."
Hux didn't verbally reply, just gave one of his stern nods as Ren put on his helmet- taking his leave. He sat up and began buttoning up his shirt that hung loosely on his shoulders, ignoring the stormtrooper that had just walked inside.
"Sir, you'll have to remove your shirt so I-"
"No need. Return to your post, trooper, I'll seek medical help from onboard the Finalizer." With a quick salute, the stormtrooper fled the med-bay as Hux swung his legs over the bed. He reached over and grabbed his bloodied clothes, seeing it best that he wore those instead of dressing in new clothes to only soil them with his blood. Once he was fully dressed and seemed presentable enough for someone who looked as though they should be in med-bay, he left and went to stand by the landing ramp.
The ship had just come out of hyper-speed as Hux reached into his cost to retrieve his datapad. He wiped away at the blood smudge and tapped away till a sufficient message was sent to Lieutenant Mitaka's coms saying they'd be stopping at his quarters before the bridge. Before he even knew it, the fleet of stormtroopers had lined up behind him, standing aside briefly as Ren stepped through and waited beside him. "What happened to my officers on Kuat?" Hux enquired, not bothering to look up from his datapad.
"We found most of your officers, they're all alive. They are returning on separate shuttles to their respective ships." The knight then pushed the control panel beside himself, the landing ramp lowering smoothly before them.
Lieutenant Mitaka stood at attention in the landing bay, almost an expression of relief when Hux emerged almost unscathed at first glance. But as he approached, Mitaka got a better look and gave Hux a look explaining enough for the ginger to roll his eyes before they walked through the ship side by side.
Meanwhile, Ren dismissed the troopers, sending one of them off with a note for Phasma while he went to attend a meeting with Snoke.
