Kylo Ren stood at Bay 4, watching over the platoon of stormtroopers as they ready the transporter for its dispatch in a moments time. Ren watched as the last stormtrooper wheeled on a crate before reporting back on how they were ready for dispatch. Just as Ren was about to point out the absence of General Hux, the ginger himself came walking into the hanger with Captain Phasma at his side. The pair seemed to be in deep discussion about something and Ren hoped it was worth the wait.
"My delay was due to some useless subordinates, we can proceed as planned," Hux spoke to the stormtrooper next to Ren. He turned back around to face Phasma, putting his hands behind his back as the sound of the engine starting up was heard behind him. "I entrust you with keeping things steady while I'm away Captain- should anything go wrong of course."
"Of course, General. I will be contacting you through the coms while you are absent."
"Good. Now, let's get going," Hux nodded to Phasma before turning to the silent Ren who stood watching. Hux had walked up the ramp first, the ship slowly rising from the hangar's deck, Ren staying back to send a simple wave goodbye to Phasma. While the pair had been open about their friendship to other officers, they deemed it was best to not be obvious about it in front of Hux. Hux would probably have them sent to reconditioning if it was found out that they made time for socialising instead of spending every waking moment working.
The ramp shut with a hiss as Kylo Ren finally made his way to the cockpit of the ship. Ren walked in to hear general chatter among the pilots, checking stats as they fed information to Hux who stood by the observation window. Ren stood beside him quietly, watching as the galaxy in front of him suddenly changed to a black and white blur when they hit hyperspeed. The knight had mused to himself in his head about how this mission was going to be a waste of his time; making a mental list of all the things he could be getting done in the time he was away. It was rather aggravating if he was, to be honest with himself.
"I may not be able to mind read but I can read a room, Ren. Is there something wrong?" Hux asked in a hushed tone, not alerting the ears of anyone else in the cockpit. Ren heavily turned his head towards Hux, pondering the outcome of his response to such a trivial question. Without much thought, Ren removed his helmet and tucked it under an arm, his dark eyes meeting those of the flashy emerald staring back. He did wonder if it was wise to start an argument not even a minute into their mission- so he kept himself in check.
"Yes, General. But it's something I won't take your time with. If you need me, I'll be in my quarters. Notify me before we land on Kuat." Hux nodded slowly, clearly not trusting Ren's peculiar change in demeanour, but still let the young man slink off down the corridors of the ship.
Hux hummed in acknowledgement, turning to the pilot and informing them that he'd be in his quarters till landing; he had much to catch up on.

With a huff, Hux placed himself at the cramped desk in his quarters, picking up his datapad and going over the criteria he wanted to cover in the meeting. He leant back in his chair, eyes glossing over as he idly stared at the call button for Phasma's coms. Phasma and Hux had been close for so long that Hux could barely remember a time where he hadn't been in the proximity of the blonde woman. The two often had catch-ups when not on their shifts, depending on if they hadn't gone back to their quarters and fallen asleep first.
Hux let his finger slide onto the button, eyes finally coming back to focus as a hologram of Phasma showed up from his datapad. The ginger smiled slightly and exhaled, placing the datapad flat on the desk so Phasma wasn't on an angle. "Phasma."
"Hux," Phasma replied, voice muffled from her helmet before she removed her helmet to continue speaking (she must have just gotten to her quarters), "are you alright? Has something happened?"
