------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As we get to our apartment building, Prim takes the sweets and makes a mad dash up the stairs, which I find funny because I'm the one with the key and I'm certainly in no hurry. When I make it to the bottom of the stair case I hear Prim talking to someone.

"No, I'm not locked out. Katniss is right behind me! She took me to the bakery because I made such good grades on my report card!", she says to the only person who, other than myself, cares deeply about Prim's safety.

"I was just making sure. I'm glad she took you to the bakery herself because if she didn't, I would! No matter what your grades were!", Gale chuckles, which causes me to roll my eyes. He's such a softy when it comes to her.

Gale spots me coming up the stairs, "Hey catnip."

"Hey Gale, how are you?", I ask, making polite conversation.

"I'm good, just got home from work.", He explains.

"That's nice. Thanks for making sure Prim was able to get inside."

"Oh, it's no problem. It's the neighborly thing to do!", I know he is covering for me since I asked him watch out for her and help her when she is locked out since I gave him a key for that reason. I know Prim would be embarrassed if she knew.

"Well, we should get going. I still have to make dinner and Prim still has her homework to do."

"Alright, don't let me keep you. Y'all have a great rest of the night.", Gale opens the door to his place and closes the door behind him. I look at Prim and make a face at her.

"Was running up the stairs really necessary?"

"Of course! I knew you wouldn't let me have my slice of cake until I had my dinner and finished my homework, so I wanted to get inside as fast as I can so I could start on my homework while you started cooking dinner.", I can't argue with her logic, so I just drop the topic and open the door.

Prim rushes past down the hall and I hear her close her bedroom door. I guess she really can't wait to eat her cake. I start cooking Prim's favorite, Potato soup. Thanks to pinterest I found a recipe for that only takes 25 minutes to make. While cooking, I lose myself in thought.

Being in that bakery brought back so many memories. Happy memories, sad memories, and really bad ones too. And all of them involved him. I've tucked those memories in the deep corners of mind, trying to protect myself and now the trip to the bakery and seeing Rye again makes every single memories come up to the surface. The fact that Rye demanded we come back next week doesn't help either.

Suddenly, a noise startles me out of my day dream. Buttercup. I swear, this cat is the biggest thorn in my side. And an ugly one at that. What could he possibly want? It's one of Prim's chores to feed him and give him water and I know she does that religiously, so what could he want?

"What?", I state, staring at him. He gives me a low growl. Okay then. "PRIM! Come get this cat out of here!", I hear her open her door and softly call for him and he runs to her. Figures. I finish what's left of the soup and call for Prim to come set the tables and she scrambles from her room and runs to do her job.

"It was nice seeing Rye again. He is so funny and nice.", Prim exclaims.

"Yeah, I guess so. He's always been like that.", I hope she drops this topic.
