"Do you know where we are going?", Prim asks, but I honestly don't know the answer."All I know that it's somewhere fancy and that he is going to be here at 8 to pick us up," that answer doesn't satisfy Prim because she just groans as she leaves my room.
For the past week, Peeta and I have been inseparable. Really the only time we have been apart is when he goes home to sleep at night, but by morning time he is at my house with a fresh batch of cheese buns and tea. Since it's his last night home, Peeta has decided to take me and Prim out to dinner in the big city. Prim thinks the world of Peeta and loves the fact that he is taking us out. I find it to be a bit over the top, but when he makes up his mind about something it's hard to get him to change his mind.
I've been dreading tonight because this will be the last night I spend with Peeta before he goes back to college. I just don't want to lose him when I just got him back.
"Kat, he should be here any minute; Are you ready?", Prim shouts down the hall.
"Uhm, yeah, I guess so.," I look over myself in the mirror one last time. Prim and Peeta harassed me until I agreed to actually wear a dress, so I'm probably about to freeze to death.
I make it to the living room just in time to see Peeta give Prim a big hug and say that she looks beautiful. Prim's face turns bright red and she can barely get her thank you out. Peeta now shifts his attention to me and I feel even more uncomfortable. It takes him less than 2 seconds to cross the living room and wrap me in his arms.
"You look absolutely look breath-taking."
He whispers in my ear."Thanks. You look good too," I say as I pull myself out of his arms.
Prim, who senses the awkwardness between me and Peeta comes to my rescue, "Who's ready to go eat? I'm starving!"
"I sure am, but could I use the restroom first?", Peeta says while looking at me.
"Sure, We will wait outside for you. Just lock the door behind you,," I then grab Prim's hand and pull her out the door behind me. I'm not paying attention to where I'm walking and that's when I run straight into something. I'm guessing by the sound it made that it's a person.
"Watch where you're going next time, Katniss!" Oh God, its Gale. Probably the last person that needs to see Peeta, Prim, and me all hanging out together.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to," I'm praying that Peeta doesn't show up because I don't know how Gale will act and I don't want to find out.
"Hey Katniss, I thou-," Peeta stops mid sentence when he spots Gale. He looks at him and then me and back to Gale. Peeta's whole body language changes from relaxed to tense in 2 seconds. Oh, boy.
"What's he doing here?", Gale snaps.
"I really don't think it's any of your business", Peeta says before I could even respond.
"I wasn't asking you, boy."
Next thing I know, Peeta steps in front of me and Prim, I can feel the anger radiate off of him and I'm worried about what he is going to do.
"I don't know what your problem with me because I've only talked to you for 2 seconds, so you might want to back off. I'm just trying to take these ladies out to dinner and you're interrupting us", Gale looks over Peeta's shoulder at me and just shakes his head. He pushes past Peeta and storms into his apartment.
I put my hand on Peeta's shoulder, "I'm sorry about that. I didn't think he'd act like that."
"It's fine, let's just go," he takes my hand off his shoulder and holds it as we walk down to his truck. I try to hold back a smile as Prim shoots me this little smirk when she walks by me.
