Chapter 33
"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the opening ceremony of the 1st Alola Pokemon League. It is my privilege to invite all the trainers to the tournament that will give Alola its first-ever League Champion.
The rules of the tournament are very simple. We have 224 trainers from Alola and different other regions taking part in the league. The preliminary round is going to be a bit different as all the trainers will compete in a Battle Royal. Only the last 64 trainers whose Pokémon remain standing at the end advance to the next round. The Trainers will be randomly matched up by a computer for the matches. The battles are refereed by the four Island Kahunas of Alola – Hala, Olivia, Nanu, Hapu – and the former Unova Champion Alder.
The round of 64 and round of 32 matches will consist of one-on-one Single Battles. The winners advance to the next round. The round of 16 and Quarterfinal matches will consist of three-on-three Single Battles. The Semifinals and the Finals will be six-on-six Full Battles. The winner of the league will have an exhibition match with the Masked Royal, which is me.
The preliminary Battle Royal Round will take place today followed by the round of 64 matches tomorrow. The next day will see through the round of 32 matches that will be one-on-one like the round before it. Following that, we will have the Pre-Quarterfinals and the Quarterfinals in the next two days. The Semifinals will take place the day after the Quarterfinals, which will be followed by the Finals in the evening the next day and the Award Ceremony. The next day in the evening, the exhibition will take place which will be a six-on-six full battle.
Get ready to roll trainers because the fun is about to begin. ENJOY!" Professor Kukui announced as the stadium was almost filled by now. Just a few more people were looking for their seats as everyone waited in anticipation to witness the start of the 1st round of the 1st Alola League.
"The Battle Royal consisting of 224 trainers will now begin. The trainer, whose Pokemon will no longer be able to battle as declared by one of the referees, will be eliminated and will have to leave the battlefield along with their Pokemon. This process will continue until 64 trainers are left in the competition. The referee's decision will be final. As you can see 256 spots have been marked around the battlefield, you can take you spot corresponding to your registration number." Alder declared as the five referees took their respective spots.
"This is it, ladies and gentlemen. The moment you all have been waiting for. The 1st ever Alola League is about to begin. The preliminary round is a Battle Royal format that is similar to Alola's traditional Battle Royal. Instead of the last man standing, the round will end when 64 trainers will be left on the battlefield. The trainers have taken their respective spots. The referees are ready. So, let's be prepared to witness a new chapter in Alola's history." The commentator announced.
"Trainers reveal your Pokemon," Hala announced as all the trainers revealed their Pokemon. Ash called his Unfezant to the battlefield. Among the few other notable trainers Gladion had Silvally, Kiawe had Turtonator, Hau revealed his Decidueye, Lana battled with her Vaporeon, Acerola with Banette, Ilima started with Smeargle, Mina with Wigglytuff, Faba had Hypno, Prof. Samson Oak battled with Ninetales, Kahili started with Toucannon while Guzma revealed his Scizor.
"Let the Battle Royal begin." Alder declared as the Battle Royal begin.
The trainers started calling their attacks, picking out their targets. Within a couple of minutes, Ash's Unfezant had defeated four Pokemon when a Flamethrower hit it on its back. Ash looked around and saw about six Team Skull members planning to gang up on Unfezant while a couple of others were shielding Guzma's Scizor from other trainers. Ash smirked.
