"Let the battle begin," Hala announced as both trainers revealed their first Pokemon at the same time.

Flashback (The Previous Evening)

"Congratulations, Ash, on becoming the 1st Alola League Champion. And I am glad that you showed Guzma his place." Professor Kukui congratulated Ash after the ceremony. He wanted to talk to Ash about something alone.

"Thank you so much, Professor. I participated in this tournament for the very purpose of winning against him. I couldn't have let him win and destroy something that a lot of people have worked extremely hard for, especially you." Ash replied smiling.

"Anyways, I can't wait to battle you tomorrow. I know it's going to an exhibition match but I am just excited."

"Me too. I am really looking forward to having a great battle tomorrow."

"One more thing I have to ask you, in fact, it's two. I have an offer and a request for you." He said a bit seriously.

"What is it?" Ash asked.

"Well, you see, I got off the call from Mr Goodshow. He was very happy that the league went very smoothly and was a great success. Alola has now got rights to have a full-fledged League including eight gyms with gym leaders, elite-fours and a champion. It will be officially announced tomorrow after our match but I wanted to inform you about it."

"Wow! That's great. Finally, all your hard work has led to success. I am really glad. But what is it you want from me? You said an offer and a request."

"Yes. The offer is for you to become the Champion of Alola." The Professor said smiling.

"What! Why me? Why not Alder? He is now a resident of Alola, so, I think he would not have any problem." Ash was surprised at this.

"Alder doesn't want any more responsibilities. He has come to Alola to relax and spend the rest of his life peacefully. So, I don't want to bug him with anything. Moreover, it's simple. You are already the Champion of six regions and one more will be added to that list. Also, you are the first winner of the league, hence, you becoming the Champion is kind of obvious. Before you try to give any reason to deny it, I want to say that this is not only what I want, Mr Goodshow and Scott also recommended your name even before I said anything about it. I have asked the Island Kahunas to operate as the Elite-Four for now. If the Champion of the league next year or after that manages to beat any of them, then we will see. So, what is your decision?" Kukui explained and asked Ash about his decision.

"Well, I am honoured that you feel that way. If the three of you want this, then I accept to be the Champion of Alola. Thank you so much."

"We also have to select gym leaders for the eight gyms and decide where to have them. We can talk about that tomorrow."

"Yes, I have already a few names in my mind after seeing the battles in the league. We will discuss that with the Kahunas tomorrow after our battle."

"Thank you for accepting, Ash. Now, I have a small request. I know that in all your Championship matches, you use the same six Pokemon. As Alola doesn't have a Champion yet, well officially, I would like if you used your Elite Pokemon against me tomorrow. I know I am not anywhere near the level of other Champions, but I would love to battle you Elite Team."
