"SHE SEEMS TO HAVE ACQUIRED AMNESIA DUE TO HER HEAD INJURY TRAUMA.

According to the MRI scan we conducted, her right and left hippocampus were slightly damaged but thankfully not too severely. The hippocampus is a part of the brain and limbic system responsible for memory. Its activities include forming memories, organizing memories, and retrieving them when needed. As for the classification, she has both retrograde and anterograde amnesia since she lost memories and having a hard time creating new ones. Unfortunately, a cure for amnesia has not been discovered yet, therefore we can only give her vitamins. Her hippocampus may heal overtime so technically, her amnesia may be either temporary or permanent."

The moment the doctor said those words, Akinori didn't know what to feel. Should he feel mad at her condition? Relieved that it wasn't any worse? He was conflicted.

Honestly, the first time the doctors explained it to him, Shi, Yukira, Mira, and the rest of the Black Dragons founding members, he made them repeat it. He didn't exactly processed the whole diagnosis in one go. Probably because he didn't want to accept the fact that his sister doesn't even remember him and would have a hard time remembering him.

"At least she didn't die or had a brain disease, right?" Benkei asked, an attempt to comfort their friend who was zoning out. Manjiro and Baji were inside the room while Y/N fell asleep because she was still tired despite sleeping for more than one year.

Akashi held Aki's shoulder, "Yeah, and we can try making new memories with her."

That was what Aki was thinking of as 'the brighter side' of this situation. She won't remember how badly their parents treat her, she won't remember how harsh they are, and he can make them create a distance from her, to protect her from them. Yeah, maybe this was better.

But still, the pain that was caused by her forgetting who he was was still there. Sure she did forget everything, like literally everything since she doesn't remember a single thing except her name, age and birthday, but forgetting Aki? I mean, ever since she was born, Aki has been by her side and for her to also forget about him, out of all the people, it hurts.

He hoped that maybe, just maybe, she could at least remember him, but his hopes were crushed when she asked the same question the second time she saw her since she woke up.

"I-I'm sorry Mister but who are y-you?"

It hurts more than being repeatedly stabbed.

And Aki knew that feeling too well.

What surprised him the most though, was when she started screaming when she saw Manjiro and Baji, which made the two boys worried and scared. When she woke up after the doctor's announced the diagnosis, they all rushed inside the room and saw her screaming, ferociously telling Manjiro and Baji to leave to the point that they had to sedate her.

"No, no! G-Get away from me! I'm sorry, I-I'm sorry, I'm s-sorry! Please, j-just s-stay away from m-me! L-Leave me alone! Ah, it h-hurts so much! M-My head hurts! P-Please make it s-stop!"

"Shhh, baby, calm down. Big brother is here, calm down, alright?" Akinori cooed as he tried to withhold a thrashing Y/N who was now hyperventilating while crying and screaming. She was pushing Aki away but he wasn't an ounce fazed and tightened his hold around her.

Doctors and nurses then flooded the room, trying to restrain the poor child as they attempt to sedate her in order to make her pass out, the easiest way to calm her down.
