This book is gonna be a slowburn...kind of at least. Also I see there is a bit of confusion–which is okay–but this book is DekuTodo, Seroroki, and BakuTodo. Which is called a love square because it involves four people instead of three.
It's in the summary too btw
———————————————————————"Come on. Get your shoes so we can go."
The girls make their way over to the door and grab their shoes to finish their outfit for school. Shouto hands Enji his pills and a glass of water. The man looks at his son with defiance. He always complained about the pills. How they tasted, how they made him feel; anything negative that he could think about. Moral of the story, it was a pain in the ass for Shouto to give his father his medicine on time. "C'mon. I know you hate them but it helps in one way–."
"And messes you up in another way. That is why I do not want them."
"Dad. Please, for me? For your daughters?"
Enji glares down at the two tablets in Shouto's hands before taking them and dumping them into his mouth. Shouto hands him the glass of water and he drinks the cool liquid in gulps. "The nurse should be here in about an hour or so to check up on you", Shouto reminded. "Please be nice, I don't want you to run them off." That was definitely he last thing he needed after the babysitter issue.
Enji only grunts out an answer and raises the glass up to his mouth again. The twins run to him and hug his legs. "Bye daddy! Love you", Yui says
"Love you dad", Yua replies.
"Love you both. Have a good day at work, son."
"Okay. See you later." Shouto slips his own shoes on and opens the door. The little ones head out first before him. As he locks the door he hears Yua shouting down the hallway. "Good morning Mr. Sero!"
Shouto turns around to see who she was talking to. It was a man with black hair tied into a low ponytail. A burgundy shirt that was stretched by his muscles and black slacks. The only thing that threw the look off was the black and white high tops. Shouto did not really talk to any of the neighbors on the floor. Yet he's spoken to this man once or twice whenever he passed him by. "Hey kids. Head'n for school?"
"Yep!"
"Yua. We talked about this", Shouto mumbles as a way to lower his voice for his sister to only hear. "No talking to strangers."
"But Sero isn't a stranger. He's our neighbor. And he's nice!"
The man walks over to them. It shocks Shouto a bit since he hadn't expected him to come any closer. He shoots him a smile–one Shouto found to be very charming. "She's right. I'm not a stranger, we talk sometimes."
"Yes. Sometimes."
"Okay. To not be strangers, I will tell you my name. I'm Hanta, your neighbor down the hall. There, now we ain't strangers."
"It's nice to meet you, uh—Sero? But–."
"That's our brother Shouto! He's actually very nice", Yua assures.
"He isn't being too nice right now", Hanta pouts to the child. "I'll take it that it's a defense mechanism."
"Sure", Shouto hisses. "Now we have to go, excuse us." Shouto has the girls walk in front of him first. Yua turns to ask him what a "defense mechanism" meant. Shouto did not answer her and just continued down. He takes a look back and sees that Hanta is walking down the stairs as well. The hairs on the back of Shouto's neck stands up and he picks up the pace. The three of them make it to the garage and head for the car. "Hey!"
