As the big oak doors parted for Naomi and I, I readied myself for the amount of attention we would attract. Royals were to be greeted at the entrance of each estate. It was customarily because most Royals sort protection and there were not many of us left. The chill of the cold brisk air-conditioned foyer engulfed us as we walked past the threshold of Silver and Grey.
A group of soilders in fighting gear cut off our path to the other students.
Naomi planted her feet right before the assembling soilders, making her the enter of many people's attention. An elderly man stepped forward and greeted Naomi. I found this rather odd. It was no secret that the Sliver and Gray family was not complete fans of Naomi Axel but even so, they should have accompanied the armed soldiers to greet us.
The man who seemed to stand in for the general, moved closer to Naomi. This sudden gesture made my body shift in their direction. Naomi's eyes met mine as if picking up on my tension. She nodded slightly as she listened to the soldier. Oblivious to others Naomi did it to assure me she had things under control. Why was I so on edge? Thankfully no one noticed.
After whispering something into her ear, she turned to me as if to follow her and the man. The old warrior led us to a room far away from prying eyes. He stopped infront of tainted glass doors and turned to Naomi. His gaze fall on mine.
Before he opened the door he made it clear that my pressence was not needed. I was to wait outside. This didn't sit well with Naomi and led to her demanding I be allowed entry. It seemed as if Naomi was doing everything she could to make known her attachment to me. She kept enough distance from me to show of her royal status but was always at an arms length away as she made her displeasure known to the guard.
He conceded and parted the stained glass doors to reveal a carpeted large room. The furnitures gave away the idea that it was a study, as did the books stacked on the wooden shelves. They stood on either side of the dark wooden desk which was placed infront of the big window panes. The glass door closed behind us as I looked the room over.
There was only one man in the room. His back faced us as he looked out the clear big glass windows near the desk. Naomi walked toward a vacant chair equally distanced from him and myself. My eyes were fixated on the back of the man's black coat as she approached him.
Black was the colour awarded to those of High rank and noble birth to distinguish them from society. Naomi's shoulder had become less tense as she took the seat on the couch close to the desk.
There was something about this individual that seemed to have relaxed her in a way I have never seen before. She was always on high alert except for now it seemed. He looked deep in though and didn't seem to notice her occupy the seat between us. As Naomi was about to address the man who looked to be a warrior, the footfalls of a pair of rubbed boots sounded behind the stained glass doors. I turned on my heels and drew closer to Naomi.
The doors parted and a young man stepped in. He was tall and handsome. With both hands still gripping the handles his attention was drawn to Naomi.
Leting go of the Handles he bowed solemly and spoke directly to her.
"Princess, forgive us me. I did not know you were attending the new admissions today.", He said returning his gaze to Naomi from the floor.
He was tall and also strutted a black coat. Strange, he was rather young to have been awarded a rank. His hair was dark and short with a few wayward strans falling about his eyes. The young warriors golden hued eyes slowly drifted to mine and then back to Naomi's but not before I noted the surprise in them.
"Ha! Perfect timing Prince Kale. Please come in.", the man said as if he had just then noticed us in the room.
He had turned and took his place behind the desk as if he was waiting on the Prince's arrival. Did he not speak to us because he was waiting on the Prince or was it because my pressence was not allowed into the study?
