"No. We should do it after the war." Hera argued.
"But, this is too important to wait on." You pleaded.
"I want something that special to wait after the war. It's special to both of us and should take our full attention." Hera replied. "Captain Syndulla, We need you on the front lines of this squadron battle!" A Rebel told Hera. "Come on, I need you beside me." Hera urged you. You bath ran to your ships and started the battle.
The battle was rough, so many rebels were being shot down, but the end was drawing closer. Then the Empire cruiser revealed a secret weapon cannon, charging up to fire.
"Phoniex squadron take evasive action now!" Hera ordered.
The weapon was about to fire after everyone sped away, leaving you to try and speed out of the way. The weapon fired, scraping your ship. You felt a searing hot pain before a bright light takes over your vision and you pass out.
*Hera's point of view* I was rushing past and weaving through crowds of people to make my way to the medic. "How is she?" I asked.
"Her vitals are in stable condition for now, but we don't know for how long." the medic explained.
"Can I see her?" I asked. "Of course." The medic obliged, moving away from the door. I run-up to her. She's in a hospital bed with two machines hooked up to her and bandages wrapped around her body. The electrocardiogram next to her beeps slowly with long pauses. "She's unconscious." The medic informed. I Kneel beside her. "Having her in a calm state will keep her stable. You can try playing music, talking to her, or playing a favorite movie." The medic suggested. "Captain Syndulla,... we don't know if she's going to make it. Her injuries are just too much for one person. We just have to hope the medication and bandages will keep her together." The medic sympathetically says. "I'll leave you alone." The medic added, leaving the room.
I hold her hand and kiss it. "Please, hold on, love."
After turning on music, sweet soft melodies filled the room. This music was her favorite to play while the two of you spent time together or when she cooked something from her home world. The soothing music made me remember a pleasant memory.
I was watching (N) cook something. This time she was making a traditional dish from Ryloth. She started making it after she heard that I was feeling homesick.
"Thank you for doing this. You didn't have to." I expressed.
"It's okay, I wanted to. If this helps you start to feeling better, even if it's not all the way then I'll do it." She admitted.
Her music was playing in the background soundly.
We were eating her dinner and talking. "The group has been really helping us with what we've been doing so far." I spoke. "It's really no problem. We'd do anything to fight against the Empire." She replied.
I reach over the table and hold her hand. "When we get ready to leave, I hope you'll come with us." I proposed. She looked at me with surprised eyes and then smiled. "I'll think about it, but I'm leaning towards yes." She said, squeezing my hand back.
The rest was history. She came with me and Kanan and we continued our adventures, meeting Sabine, Zeb, and Ezra as we continued to try to take down the Empire little by little. In the process of everything the two of you just fell for each other.
"Hera?" I heard a small voice and looked down to see (N) smiling at me with half-lidded eyes. "Hi, you should be resting right now." I urged her. "I know I just wanted to hear your voice and look at you." She admitted. "Do you want me to tell you stories about Ryloth again?" I asked. "Yes, please." She answered. I climbed into the bed with her and held her close to me. I talked in my native accent, telling her story, after story. "Hearing your voice in your native accent is probably one of my favorite sounds." She confessed. She closed her eyes and the electrocardiogram next to her stopped beeping. "(N)? (N)!" I yelled desperately. "Medic! Her vitals have dropped!" I told him. He came in with some help and an item in hand.
"Clear!" He yelled, shocking (N) with the item.
"Clear!" He yelled again, shocking her for the second time. He tried again until the eighth time. He looked at me and frowned. I'm sorry, but there's nothing we can do now."
I hold his shoulders and try to reason with him to try again, but he just holds my shoulders and tells me that there is nothing he can do. He and his assistant leave the room and I sob, letting tears fall down my face and a rising burning in my throat. I hold her close and I continue to cry. Me and her had a whole life planned, a wedding, a home and so much more. I should have done the one thing that would have made her happy and marry her, but it's too late. I wasn't ready to let go, I wasn't ready to say goodbye.
No, it can't be over.
Readers point of view: You flutter your eyes open and feel Hera holding you, crying.
"Love, what's wrong?" You asked, confused.
"Hera looks at you with wide eyes and amazement.
"Your alive!" She said with happy tears.
She pulls you in for a kiss and you kiss her back. The medic comes back in, astonished.
"How- How are you alive?"
"What? Do you mean?" You asked. "You said there was nothing you could do." Hera stated, looking angrily at him. "That's what I thought too. It appears that I was wrong, though it should be impossible." The medic responded. "You have a lot of nerve-" Hera started. "Let him go." You urged her. She calmed down and sat in the bed with you as the Medic hurried out of the room. "I can't believe your alive. Your vitals dropped and I thought that... I was so scared." She confessed. "I'm not going anywhere anytime soon." You told her. "I should have done this a long time ago." Hera said. You gave her a confused look and she gets out of the bed to bend down on one knee. "(F/N) (L/N), will you marry me?" She asked. You move your hand to your mouth. "Yes!" You jump down to hug her. She put the ring on your finger and kissed you. All you could think about was the life you two were going to live together.
