Dogfight

**Kate POV
Being a team player was never my thing.

And I hated being with the team I was assigned with at the Data Disease Unit, especially since Bex was in charge.

I knew her briefly when she was a resident here a few years ago, so...innocent.

She had no idea about anything.

I had just gotten out of the military then and was just settling back in when she came to the hospital for her residency.

Looking at her now...she's learned more in the past few years.

She still had so much to learn and that's why I was hard, just like everyone else had been with me, even if I didn't want to be all the time.

But she had to understand...

And luckily she did with Kyle.

**Bex POV
"Why is your dad angry at you?" I asked Harriet.

She sighed, looking down at her hands and then back at me, clearly still shaken at what just happened to her and frankly, I don't blame her.

Being attacked like that...it was terrifying.

"I work in my dad's shop, it's a small clothing store. I started helping him when my other dad passed away and...I don't think he liked that very much. Especially since I stopped going for my degree to help out." Harriet explained.

That explained so much.

I nodded, "He's mad and pushing you away to follow a path on your own. What were you studying before?"

"To be a teacher. But I didn't want my dad to be on his own. He loved my dad with everything, that shop is everything they put together..." Harriet started tearing up.

She then got herself together and said, "It's the thing they started before they adopted me, it's our second home."

"Trust me, I understand wanting to save your family's legacy. But your dad didn't want you to do that, right?" I asked her.

Harriet thought for a minute, wiping her tears away.

"I—-suppose you're right. Both of them wanted me to have my own dreams, not be stuck to them forever."

I sighed, I didn't really have that same support.

My parents wanted me to be a surgeon, but I disappointed them when I switched focuses to become a radiologist.

I didn't want life and death in my hands.

Then again...here I am now.

"Okay, well...thank you for the information, Harriet. I'll make sure things go okay with your dad, alright?" I assured her.

I didn't want to give her false hope, but still.

**3rd POV
Around the same time, the other Data Being made an appearance downtown, going towards Norman's shop.

Before it even went there though, Kate appeared.

She had her blaster out and aiming it towards the Data Being as it walked down the street and had everyone screaming.

"Hmm, seems you need to be blasted out of here. I don't think blasting these shops will help anyone except....maybe you." She said.

Kate's eyes widened as she saw the shop she was going towards.

"It does benefit you, doesn't it?"

Kate looked at the game on its head, "Jet Combat, that's interesting. Fighter jets could be useful, I'll be taking it from you."
