ADORN ZHARICK VALE

"DO YOU KNOW each other?" Catmint asked, surprised.

Franco and I both nodded. "We met outside Fitz Hospital, and we took the bus together earlier," Franco explained.

"Is it a bad idea to set up Attorney with Ren?" Catmint asked meaningfully.

"Don't..." Franco replied.

I frowned, looking at him. I didn't understand. "What do you mean, 'don't'? If Catmint's brother is okay with our date, why can't we go?"

"You two look good together..." Archer commented, then pointed at Franco and me as he sat down. "Ren's love life is canceled again." He laughed loudly.

Franco sat next to me. "Don't date my cousins," he whispered.

"Are Ren and Catmint your cousins?"

He nodded. "Yes."

I let out a heavy sigh and continued eating. Catmint and I chatted for quite a while, and when we were done, I said my goodbyes to her and Archer. I didn't talk to Franco anymore since we didn't really need to speak.

I think it's also better that I didn't pursue Catmint's plan to set me up with her brother, especially after I found out he's Franco's cousin. That would be so awkward. I have a crush on Franco, and now I'm supposed to date his cousin? No way!

IT'S PROBABLY JUST a three to five-minute walk from Archer's house to my parents' place, so I didn't mind walking. The weather wasn't hot either. I called Hunter to check in on him and Mom. "Are you and Mom coming home soon?"

I walked slowly, savoring the moment. It was my first time walking around Bloom Village, and I knew it was safe here. I just regretted wearing heels because my feet were starting to hurt. My legs were also cold because of the skirt I was wearing.

"Yes. Don't worry. I'll take care of Mom."

"Okay. Thank you, Kuya. I'm really sorry for leaving early."

"Don't worry. I can handle it. Alright, we still need to get ready so we can head home soon. Love you, Adorn."

"Love you!" I replied before hanging up the call.

FRANCO DENROUN FITZMAEL

AS SOON AS I left Catmint's house, I drove off. My destination wasn't far. I furrowed my brows when I saw Adorn struggling to walk. She stopped and stretched her foot. No wonder her feet hurt, given how high her heels were!

I intentionally slowed down the car. I wanted to avoid her, but I couldn't bring myself to. I knew I wasn't ready yet, but I didn't understand why I wanted to talk to her. I thought I wouldn't see her again after earlier. I wasn't sure if this was fate or just a coincidence.

I honked to get her attention.

I JUMPED WHEN I suddenly heard a honk. I shot an annoyed look at the car behind me. The windows were tinted, so I couldn't see who the driver was. The car moved forward a bit, and suddenly, the window on the shotgun seat rolled down. I was surprised to see Franco. He was just staring at me.

The irritation I felt started to fade, but I didn't want to show him that I was happy to see him. "Why are you scaring me like that?!" I raised an eyebrow at him.

"I'm sorry..." he said.

I glared at him and continued walking. Franco honked again. When I stopped walking, his car stopped too. I sighed loudly. I tried to run to get away from him, but Franco suddenly honked the horn for a long time. I panicked and stumbled. I ended up sitting on the pavement, wincing from the pain.
