LIYUE HARBOUR

"Are you going to the lantern rite festival?"
You asked Zhongli. You and Zhongli have been hanging out more and getting closer each day. It has been weeks.. or months? She doesn't keep track of time but It's been a long time. They hang out almost everyday and each day they learn a new thing about each other.

From stories, to home countries and old tales. They've had a lot in common, almost everything.

"I don't see why not, but I might cancel if I'm too busy." Replied Zhongli.

"Oh, I see. Well if you have a more important meeting to attend to then, I'll ask Childe to come with me." You stated.

Truthfully, she really did want him to go. She wanted him to go with her. What she didn't know was: as soon as she mentioned Childe,

Zhongli's head immediately went blank, Childe with (Y/N)? Really? Oh he definitely know he'll do anything he can to clear his schedule on that particular day to prevent this from happening.

"I said if I'm too busy, that doesn't mean I'll cancel on the spot. I'm sure my schedule would be free at that day so there's no need to bring Childe into this." Says Zhongli, taking a sip of his tea.

Under a cherry tree, sat a god. Calmly stroking the soft hair of the goddess laying on his lap.

"Moon looks lovely tonight, doesn't it?"

"It does, it cannot compare It's beauty to yours sadly."

The lady giggles.

"Hey, you won't forget about me right?" The beautiful goddess asks.

"I promise, for all of eternity . I would never forget the face of my beloved."

"Did you hear? Someone said if you write on a lantern with you and your partner's name on it, legend says that it'll guarantee them both eternal love and would bind their souls forever!" One of the Liyue citizen says out loud.

"Oh my god! I must prepare one for me and my wife then!" The other villager states.

"Oh wow, these people really are desperate to have their souls tied to their loved ones."
You laughed.

"They really are, but it is nothing but a myth." Replied Zhongli.

"Ah yes, do you believe in myths Zhongli?"

Zhongli paused for a moment in his head. He is the Geo Archon after all, he is a god. He should be guaranteed to know every single myth there is in Liyue.

He's been alive for years and years before. He knows which beliefs are true and which are false. However, Zhongli has never heard of such a myth before. 'Bound to tie their souls forever?' Give him a break.

Why would anyone believe such a thing? He's lost so many of his loved ones before so why should he even bother to seek for hope that he doesn't lose another?

A part of him wanted to think logically, no, he does not believe in myths. But maybe for her, he'll try to open up for the mortal's feelings.

But a part of him did want to believe it was true.

"No, I do not believe in some myths." Zhongli replied.

"Oh what a shame, it would've been fun if we wrote our names on a lantern together."
You said boldly.

"I- beg your pardon.?" Zhongli pauses.

"I mean, not in that way. I guess, it would've been fun to hear more of your stories once we meet again in another life." You smiled at him.

"Oh" Zhongli uttered.

How strange.

Two blinded individuals not even aware that they've already met in their second life?

Why should they rely on a myth if they already have a million more chances to fall for each other over and over again?

"Hm, perhaps we should test the myth if it is true yes?" Zhongli states slowly locking eyes with the girl.

"Yes, perhaps we should." You smiled.

One day when fate finally decides to stop working, and our souls will will be separated. We'll both be free, the only difference is; you'll be able to experience love with others when I wanted to experience it with you.
