"Good night." He whispered as he kissed your forehead before taking his leave.
Zhongli left a little wave goodbye to Qiqi after closing the door behind him.
His heart was filled with so much emotions. He finally has you back, he finally found you; the person who gave his life a whole new meaning rather than fulfilling his duties as an archon. The thing is: how will you remember him? Zhongli sighed.
He wanted to hold you so bad to make up for those thousands of years of grief that has damaged him. He needed to find a way to make you remember everything. Just as he was about to leave the inn,
"Well well, look who we have here." Childe stated before slowly walking out of the dark corner that lounged on the opposite side of the room. "So by the looks of it, she didn't listen to me now did she?" Childe furrowed his eyebrows while crossing his arms revealing a disappointed look on his face.
"Don't worry, she wasn't physically hurt in any way. We just watched the lanterns and I carried her back here." Zhongli stated.
Childe stepped closer, "I'm watching you, old man. The only thing you'll do to her is lead her to more danger." Childe stated.
"I wouldn't let that happen to her, I can assure you. As long as my presence is there with her, she's safe." Zhongli calmly explained.
"Zhongli, you know how dangerous you are now that you're being targeted by the Fatui. If (Y/n) gets involved-"
"You care for her don't you?" Zhongli cuts Childe.
Childe's eyes widened, he bore a shocked look on his face as if someone had just found out what he was hiding the most. Someone did.
"Of course I do, as a friend and nothing more." Childe stated.
"You're lying." Zhongli venomously stated.
"I care for her, Zhongli. Absolutely more than you do and It's unhealthy. Especially now that she's grown attached to you." Childe bitterly spat out.
Zhongli stared at him as he sighed.
"I can't stop her from seeing you and I most definitely can't stop caring for her, but it hurts because I'm nothing more to her than a friend." Childe stated as his gaze hit the floor.
It was as if he intentionally shattered his heart himself before anyone could.
"But that is all out of the topic, I don't full trust you with her but I can't stop you from seeing her. If anything happens to her, you know the rest." Childe stated in a threatening but almost breaking manner.
