DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY

***

Throwing her phone down on the couch, Isla let out a sigh. Her friend had phoned her and invited her to her wedding. Not wanting to seem rude, Isla accepted the invitation. Since moving away, Isla hasn't spoken to her friends from back home very much, she only spoke to them about once a month. Isla was always the first person to reach out, her friends never did.

Isla knew that the wedding would be awkward, she wouldn't have anyone to speak to where the conversation wouldn't go stale. Rubbing her hand over her face, she stood up from her couch and headed over to her front door and opened it, immediately taking the small walk over to Spencer's apartment. Knocking on the door, she heard some movement before the door opened.

"Isla?" Spencer said, "Are you okay?"

"Are you busy on Saturday?" She questioned.

"No I don't think so why?" He answered, letting her into his apartment, closing the door behind her.

"Will you go to a wedding with me?" Isla asked.

"A wedding?"

"Yeah, it's my friend's wedding that I'm not really friends with anymore, she invited me last minute. Well it was very last minute considering that the wedding is in six days. And I felt bad about saying no so I said that I'll go but now I regret it because I'll have no one to talk to." Isla let out a breath after her rant.

Spencer stood there in stunned silence before slowly nodding his head, "I'll go with you. Are we just going there for the day or do we have to book into a hotel?"

"Um, we probably have to book into a hotel, it's a bit of a drive away." Isla says, flopping down on his couch.

"That should be okay." Spencer replied, walking over to the couch, Isla lifting her feet to make room for Spencer before placing them back down on his lap.

"I don't even know why I agreed," Isla spoke, "I haven't spoken to her in a couple months and whenever I do get in contact, it's always me initiating it. It's been like that with all my friends from back home ever since I moved. We've definitely grown apart but I can't help but feel sad about it. We were friends for years and it took me moving away to realise that we weren't as close as I thought."

"It's normal," Spencer says, placing his hands gently on Isla's knees, "Growing apart from people you were close with or thought you were close with. I've had friends in the BAU that I haven't spoken to in years, all because they left. So I'd say it's normal."

Isla gave Spencer a small smile and sat up so she could face him properly, her legs still staying in their position over his lap, "Well I want you to promise me one thing Spencer Reid."

"And that is?"

"We're never going to grow apart," Isla said, "You're just one of my closest friends, well actually my closest friend. I'm pretty sure, other than my mother of course, that you are the person who knows the most about me."
