THREE SIMPLE WORDS

When Isla was discharged from hospital, she was over the moon, even though she only had to spend one day there. Despite Isla having Spencer by her side, she began to feel very bored in the confines of her room. Even though Isla loved Spencer dearly, there were moments where she began to get annoyed by his constant worry. Whenever she would shift around on the bed, he would tell her to sit still in case she hurt herself - even though she told him multiple times that she was fine.

Spencer's hand was gently placed on Isla's lower back as the two exited the hospital. Isla had a slight limp in her walk and Spencer insisted on helping her, even though that was only an excuse to be close to her. Isla felt comforted by Spencer's hand on her, it was a constant reminder that he was there and she was safe.

When the two got into Spencer's car, Isla immediately took one of his hands in hers. Spencer looked over at her and smiled before squeezing her hand.

"Thank you." Isla said, lacing her fingers with Spencer's.

"What for?" He questioned.

"For being there with me in the hospital, I know that I did get annoyed with you sometimes but you made it bearable." Isla said.

Spencer brought her hand up to his lips and pressed his lips against her knuckles, "I wouldn't be anywhere else."

Once Spencer pulled out of the hospital parking lot, his hand found it's place on Isla's thigh. When he placed it there, she was surprised to say the least but once the original shock was over, she placed her hand on top of his. The two sat in silence the entire ride back to their apartment block, the feeling of Spencer's hand on her thigh and knowing that she was going home was enough to put Isla at ease.

Once they were back home, Spencer parked his car and they both stepped out. Spencer's hand was immediately placed on Isla's lower back as he guided her up the flights of stairs. As they ascended the stairs, Isla began to feel a pit of dread form in her stomach. She didn't want to be alone at all, she wanted someone - more specifically Spencer - by her side. When they climbed up the stairs to their floor, Isla remained still.

"You okay?" Spencer asked softly.

Isla shook her head, "I don't want to be alone."

"I wasn't planning on leaving you alone," Spencer mumbled, his hand gently rubbing her back, "I was going to stay with you whether you wanted me to or not."

Isla gave Spencer a tight lipped smile, "Can we stay at your apartment? I don't really want to go back to mine."

"Anything you want." Spencer responded as they approached the door to Spencer's apartment.

Spencer removed his hand from Isla's back for a moment to unlock the door. Isla stepped in first and looked around. She knew that she was safe but she couldn't help but inspect her surroundings. Folding her arms across her body, Isla shuffled closer to Spencer.
