Goodbyes

"All packed" my step dad Johns mother Anne asks me as I load the last of my things in to my Range Rover Evoque my mom and step dad bought for my 17 birthday months ago. "Yeah" I say as I feel tears in my eyes. All my friends were standing in the porch waiting for me to say my goodbyes and leave.

This past month has been hell. My mom and Step dad got into a huge accident and they both died. I took it really hard, due to the fact my mom and I were really close, and I had no one left. I'm surprised Anne didn't ship me off sooner to my Uncle Bobby's house. But with going through everything my mom and John had it took time. They lived in a huge 5 bedroom luxury home and Anne wanted to quickly put up for sale. Which whatever I only lived there 2 years ago when my mom married him and we moved out of our apartment to this huge house, and wasn't attached to it.

"Alyssa say goodbye to your friends you have a drive ahead of you" Anne says and I nod. Turning around and rolling my eyes. "Bye" I say running up to Beth, Katy, and Dena, Ed, Mike, and Ashton. Hugging each one of them as tears start to trickle in all our eyes. We have been best of friends for years and always stuck together. Beth's parents offered for me to stay till end of school year but Anne didn't think that was a good idea. I was a nuisance to her and she couldn't wait to get rid of me. "Where's Luke" I asked.

Luke was my boyfriend since freshman year. And was there through the whole accident. But when I found out I was shipped off to my uncles house 5 hours away, I made the decision to break up so we wouldn't have to try the whole long distance relationship. He agreed but was never really the same between us the last week. "He said he was coming" Mike said and I looked around.

"Alyssa you need to go before you drive in the dark" Anne said annoyed. "Bitch" I mumbled causing Katy and Dena to laugh. "What was that" she asked. Damn does she have ears. "I said I'm coming Anne" I turn around and give her a huge fake smile as she taps her foot rapidly on the concrete ground and looks at her really expensive watch.

I turn to face my friends. "Well I guess he's not coming" I wipe away a tear that has fallen again. "It's his own fault" Ed says. Ed was one of my best guy friends, besides Luke he was always there when I needed him too, esp. Problems between Luke and I. "Alyssa" she says again in a tone I just want to rip my hair out. "Well I guess this is it guys" I say "it's not it, it's a new beginning for you and we'll visit, you come visit us, we'll keep in touch" Beth says wiping away her own tears. "I don't want a new beginning, I like this right now" I shake my head. "Well keep in touch" Dena says. "Group hug" Mike yells as we all hug each other. We pull away and everyone has tears in there eye. "Bye guys" I say walking towards my car waving. "Bye" they all shout out.

"Bye Anne thanks for everything" I say as she pulls me into a hug. "Remember I'm always here if you want to come visit" I nod and kiss her cheek. "Getting going sweetheart Bobby will be expecting you before dinner." I nod and take one more look at my friends and give them a small smile. They all blow kisses and I return the gesture.

"Wait wait Alyssa" I know that voice all too well. It was Luke's. I turn around. He comes up to me and wraps his arms around my waist pulling me into a hug. I look up and smile with tears in my eyes. "I didn't think you were going to show" I say. He wipes away my tears. "I would never come and miss saying goodbye to you. No matter what happened between us. I still love you." He says bending his head down as our foreheads touch. "I love you too Luke and I'm sor--" he puts his finger on my mouth. "Shh" he leans in and I feel his lips touch mine and his cold lip ring he wears that I love when I kiss him, and we share our last kiss. We break staring into each other eyes. "You better get going. And make sure you drive safe and call me when you arrive" he says always caring about me. I smile and nod opening the door and getting inside. He goes and joins the rest of the group. I roll down my window and back out of the drive way. I honk and I hear Luke yell before I drive off. "I love you Alyssa Walsh." I smile and yell "I love you too, Luke Hemmings." And drive off. Waving and honking.

As I'm far enough away I roll my window back up and look back. As i look back into my rear view mirror, everything I ever have know is slowly getting smaller and slowly disappearing. I take a deep breathe and wipe my last of my tears away. "Everything's going to get better" I say to myself as I drive the five hour drive to my new home.
