"Sweet," says Megan.
I bite my lip. You never really get to plan your awkward situations but in this case it's getting planned right before my eyes.
I thought that Jessie might not be okay with the awkward situation ahead of us either, but he seems ready, probably preparing a major apology or confession of love.
The thought makes my cheeks heat.
"Why are you blushing?" Princeton looks up to me.
"Sunburn," I say the first thing that comes to mind.
The two boys in front of me raise their eyebrows in unison.
We aren't due to leave for another hour so the boys go back to the water and my mom urges me to go with Awful Aubrey to "bond" with her bestfriend.
She is still playing frisbee and the game seems to be getting as intense as one can with a few teens, an adult and a spinning disk.
I lean against the lifeguard's post.
Every once in a while Dallas does something that I suppose is good? And winks directly at me.
I never fail to respond with rolling my eyes.
The game ends a bit after and Itzy Aubrey crashes a tight, almost sensual hug on Dallas,
"Great game!"
"Thanks," he says looking straight down her bikini.
Another eye roll and reason to puke for me!
"I have to pee!" She says in a that perky-teen voice she's been using ever since we came across Dallas.
She jogs away.
"How'd I do?" Dallas comes near me.
"I don't know I wasn't not really watching the game-er- I mean you."
Thank you Conversating Gods for bestowing this awful gift on me when I need it least.
He looks at me confused for a second and then gets cocky again. He leans on the lifeguards post I've been on, putting his hand right next to my ear, trapping me.
"Do I make you nervous?" He attempts to flirt by pointing out my mess up from a second ago.
No. You make me disgusted.
"Can you move? I'm claustrophobic," I try to throw him off.
"Yeah, I just need one thing from you before I do," he says, trying, but not accomplishing, to have a seductive voice.
"Direction's to leave?"
I meant to say directions for the way out but I guess that works too mouth.
"Your number, I really want it."
Nice line.
I wish I had eaten lunch because I would have puked right in his face.
He must not see the disgust in mine because he goes on, "and maybe something else later?"
I almost lose it right there and I never thought I'd say this, but I wish Aubrey was still here for Dallas to "seduce".
"Okay Romeo you're done," I say trying to squeeze my way under his arm but he grabs me and puts me back,
"Don't hide from your want," he says, "I can feel your body yearning for me."
"Are you bli-"
I get cut off by Dallas's fall.
"What the heck dude?" He is no longer talking to me but to Jessie.
