"What in the..." I say, not able to stop myself.
The two break apart and look at me wide eyed.
"This is not what you think," says Sidney.
"You sure? Cause I think you are macking on a boy that is not your boyfriend," I say.
I have always hated cheaters. My father cheated on my mom and that gave me an idea of how bad the betray felt.
"Don't tell him," she pleads.
What a fricken coward.
"You are going to stay with him while you are doing some other boy?" I say pointedly.
"Why do you even care?!" she asks, looking like she's about to cry, "You don't even like him!"
"The way you are acting makes me think you don't like him either."
She walks closer to me this time putting on a complete diva face, "If you tell him, I will make your life hell."
I laugh, "Bite me."
All through the conversation, Dallas is staring wide eyed like he is worried that Jessie is going to beat him to the pulp. He probably will. I would.
I am not as worried about Dallas as I am about Jessie though. The two are friends. That has got to hurt, a girlfriend cheating on her guy with his friend is bound to cause plenty of drama. Despite us hating eachother I figure I have to tell him, it would be too evil for me to keep that kind of secret for my benefit.
I go downstairs and find Brielle to tell her I am heading home, "To many events for one night, " I explain.
"Lame," she says, "guess I'll just have to sleep over with you," she looks up to the guy that is currently showing her how to play pool with his arms around hers, being more than friendly.
He doesn't seem too upset about the idea.
"Okay see ya," I say, making my way to the door.
It opens as soon as I am about to twist the handle and manages to hit me right in the forehead.
"Ow," I say, feeling my head and stumbling back.
"Crap! Are you okay?" a worried voice comes from behind the door.
"Yeah. I'm okay," I reassure the voice, when I look up I find an embarrassed black haired hottie staring at me.
My expression completely changes at the realization, "you hit me with a door."
Jessie stops, and looks at me. I watch as his wild eyes sweep my body then look into my eyes and stares at me intensely, I stare back too, confused on why I never noticed how intense his stare was and after he breaks the eye-contact he seems disoriented, "Uhhh...Yeah is your head okay?"
"Umm... it was. Until it got hit by a door," I snap out of the haze gesturing with my hands.
I realize it may seem like I am coming off rude. But this our average conversation tone.
"Still a smart Alec, even with a concussion," he mutters.
"Not deaf," I say.
"I'm aware," he answers.
Back to his usual self.
"so are you sure you are okay?" He asks genuinely once again.
Sort of back to himself.
"Yeah," I answer, thrown off by the concern.
"Good," he says, "do you know where the men's room is?" He asks already walking away.
And that's when I remember.
"Uuhh. Don't go in there," I say.
"Why?" He asks, lifting his eyebrow like I am up to something.
"It's gross. Yeah. It is completely unsanitary and I won't allow you to go in it so let's go to the nearby McDonalds, I saw one on the way."
I say, trying to think of excuses. No one deserves to have the humiliation of finding that their girlfriend is cheating on them in public.
"I obviously don't care about the sanitation of where I am peeing," he says and tries to slide past me.
"No."
"I have to pee," he whines.
"It's Mickey D's or nowhere."
"I'll just go outside. I am a guy," he gestures to his manhood.
"Mickey D's or nowhere," I repeat.
"Whatever," he says.
***
"Happy?" Jessie asks me when he comes out of the Mcdonalds bathroom.
"Sort of," I say.
"Well I need a ride back and I don't plan on peeing anywhere else so..." he looks at me expectantly.
"Sit down?" I ask.
He slumps his shoulders and sits across from me.
"I have to tell you something," I start.
"If you're in love with me, I already have a girlfriend so..." he says.
"Actually it is about that," I start again.
"You are in love with me?" His eyes get wide and his eyebrows scrunch together, "wow I guess when they said if girls are mean to you, they like you, cause I did not see that coming. But like I said before I-"
"Will you just shut up?" I ask.
He rolls his eyes, "Sure. Go ahead."
I am not sure why I am the one telling him this. But I know for a fact that I can't let him go back to that party where Sidney will either act like everything's normal, or tell him in front of an audience. I know the humiliation that follows something like that and I don't think anyone deserves it other than the cheater themselves.
I breathe in, "Sidney's unfaithful."
He looks at me like I am the dumbest thing he has ever seen.
"That's how you want to win me? By making Sid and I break up with a lie? That's really cruel, even for you," he says standing up.
I grab his arm and pull him back down, "I saw her using her mouth with Dallas earlier tonight, and they weren't talking."
I see hurt start to set into his eyes, "liar."
"I'm sorry," I say genuinely. Because I sincerely am sorry.
