Chapter 5: there is no 'us'

Dean pulled me by the wrist, and pushed me behind him.

"What do you think you're doing with my sister, Rollins?" He asked angrily.

"Dean it-"

"Erica, be quiet. Not now." Dean said silencing me.

"Look, man." Seth said. "I just wanted to get to know her better, alright?"

"You stay away from my sister, Seth." he said sternly.

"What if I don't want to stay away?" Seth challenged.

"You better stay away from her, or else I'm--" I pulled my brother back, not wanting to make this a bigger problem.

Why can't we all just get along?

"Look, Dean." I said, "Seth's not a ba-"

He cut me off. "Didn't I tell you to stay away from him?"

I looked down at the floor, "Yeah.." I replied quietly.

"Dude, she can do whatever the hell she wants. Erica is not a baby anymore." Seth defended.

"Stay out of this,Rollins. But most important: STAY. AWAY. FROM. MY. SISTER." Dean grabbed my arm and dragged me away from Seth.

'I'm sorry' I mouthed as I turned around to look back at Seth.

"How many times do I have to tell you this, Erica? Stay. Away. From. Seth." Dean said as he paced around in his locker room. He only paces when he's upset. Or mad. But mostly when he's mad.

"Sorry," I mumbled. "I just got curious.."

His face softened up as Dean looks down at me.

"Erica, I'm only being so protective of you because I care too much, okay. I don't want you getting hurt like before." Dean said placing his hand on my shoulder.

I shrugged it off. "As much as I appreciate that, I'm not a baby anymore, Dean. I can take care of myself."

"And I respect that," He said, "But seriously, you have to stay away from Seth. If he and I were still friends, I wouldn't have a problem having you hanging out with him. But Seth has lost all my trust. If I can't trust him, how can you?"

"I never said I trusted him." I pointed out.

"It seemed like you did." Dean shot.

I stepped back away from him a little bit. I know about Dean's anger issues. Trust me, you don't wanna get too close to him when he's pissed.

He sighed. "Stay here." Dean said lowly, "I'm gonna get some air, I'll be right back."

Dean left the room, leaving me there standing like an idiot. I sighed and sat down.

Do I trust Seth? I thought. No, that's impossible. We literally just met yesterday. You can't trust someone right away when you just met them, right?

The door opened slowly but I just ignored it.

"Hey are you okay?"

I looked up and my eyes widened. I stood up and walked over to Seth.

"Are you crazy? What the hell are you doing here?! You can't just barge in like that! My brother will be back here any second now." I whisper-shouted.

"Well, to correct you, I slowly opened the door. I don't recall barg-"

"That doesn't matter!" I interrupted. I signed and ran my hand through my hair.
